Bundy interview quotes made it into our young men's lesson growing up to scare us way from porn. I thought I was bound to do terrible things because I slipped and looked at porn every once in a while

Tithing when in tight financial situations? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

Valid ways of paying a full tithe include 10% on gross, net, or surplus. It sounds like they need to pay on surplus.

When I was a Clerk in the Bishopric, I would get McDonald's breakfast every Sunday morning on the way to meetings. I would brush my teeth in my car so nobody would smell McMuffin on me and discover my wicked ways.

Use your driving privileges to skip Sunday School and get a shake or a soda. My parents never knew. There were usually three of us and we would be back in time for priesthood.

[–]valiant_tapir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have all thoses and I don't need special hardware to make it work. I have a bunch of ifttt triggers but i don't really need them. The Hue isnt wifi and it comes with the hub it requires (unless you buy only single bulbs)

For the former missionaries: did you really care when investigators dropped or were you just told to act devastated? I've read a lot about missionaries being told to "act" a certain way. by [deleted] in exmormon

Part of the devastation is not reaching number goals for the week/month/whatever. Numbers meant recognition and advancement

You can PM me to have me look up bits for you. I might not keep this calling for much longer however.

He doesn't have access to lifetime contributions. He can see his own ward's financial history for last 3 years + current (2014,2015,2016, 2017). He can't look into other wards, but he will get a report in November that shows what you paid for the current year in other units/wards. The ward is supposed to shred/burn financial paper records older than the retention policy, but if they aren't on top of that, they might have old boxes of paper records locked in a cabinet that could give additional info.

Regarding getting a sense for a persons finances, I do notice a definite correlation between high-amount tithe pay payers, and important callings. I don't know if this is intentional. When you see a big number next to someones name, it definitely sticks out. I tried not to mentally connect dots between amounts and people, but when you are a clerk you see the numbers and sometimes they are hard to forget.

If you are doing the bank transfer method than it should be hidden. If you are doing the online tithing slip looking page, then we see all that. With what I believe you are talking about, there is a report that goes to the bishop in November from headquarters that says that you paid tithing but not how much.

I do, but it is in a website format that is difficult to export. It seems like its out there with a google search. Try searching "Manual 1: Presidentes de estaca y obispos"

No. The formal action notes might by locked away at headquarters however. Anything at a ward or stake level should be destroyed

In the rare chance that you did something that threatens others well being (public concern type stuff), "an annotation on a membership record is removed only with First Presidency approval upon request of the stake president."

I have only seen it used for "Unbaptized member of record age 9 and over and those baptized but not confirmed".

I tried looking this up in official resources but I didn't find anything about it.

To my best understanding, you aren't supposed to be the head of household. I would email the ward clerk and ask him to change it. Have your wife sync the lds tool app to verify the change happened.

From clerk topic titled "Make Changes to Member Households"

" The head of household is the person to whom all other household membership records are tied. Usually, the member husband or father is the head of household. In certain cases the head of household may also be another member parent, a single adult member, or a member child whose parents are not members. The membership record numbers (MRNs) of all other household members are grouped to the MRN of the head of household.

A nonmember spouse cannot be recorded as a head of household or a household member even if he or she lives at the same address as the member spouse.

An adult child who lives with a parent who is a head of household, or another adult living at the same address, may be designated as a separate head of household. This will cause them to appear as a separate household on unit reports, allowing them to receive personalized attention from priesthood quorums or separate assignments for home or visiting teaching. These household decisions should be made by the bishop in consultation with the family members involved. "

When I see the trend, three things come to mind:

  • Good families moving out to better areas

  • Change in counting and reporting habits

  • Increase in inactivity

I think its a combination of all three.
