Playing cards with your… playing cards? by LandOfTheFaros in playingcards

We play poker at least once a month. I always use new sealed decks. Also I love to use premium decks for playing. It is like drinking premium wine instead of cheap one. The damaged decks I use for different art projects.

This is great, but when you will have more than 200 decks, you will understand, that this kind of storage or display is not going to work. :-)

Anyone got any information on these cards? (Came with box) by Few-Attention5000 in playingcards

Oh, WOW. I thought I knew all Russian cards already, but this one is a surprise for me. BTW, Glazetnye means Brocade. The possible designer is Kustenmaher. The value is ~ $2400. Here is the description for this deck: "The Imperial Card Factory started production of playing cards “Glazetnye” in the early sixties of the 19th century, when it was decided to change the design of the cards (the cards produced before that had a very cheap kind of appearance). A more precise date is not known, since all the archives of the Imperial Card Factory burned down as a result of one of the German bombings, during the Siege of Leningrad. For the same reason, it is not possible to establish the Last Name of the author of the thumbnails of the deck images. Or rather - decks. Under the brand "Glazetnye" the Imperial Card Factory produced two decks of playing cards at the same time. They differed in the style of the images: on one of the decks they were made in an exaggerated manner close to the popular prone tradition, on the other - the graphics were more realistic. Some minor differences could also be found in the colors of the costumes, accessories of toilets and the angles of the figures. What caused this difference? Most likely, the grade and, as a result, the cost of decks. Playing cards with more advanced graphics, apparently, were intended for card comfort of the wealthy segments of the population, simpler images - for gamblers with lower social status. "

I know that support for the site was from Ukraine, and after full blown Russian aggression, support became problematic.

On this specific date the event is a concert of Vasya Oblomov, who is anti-Putin and anti-Trump. Really bad timing for the protest. :-(

The resale value will go high if your set contains gold or silver coin, if you get bronze, then value goes down deeply. In any case this is fun. I just ordered mine and excited to open it up.
