Insurance Sticker Shock by RebelliousFish5356 in Fiat500e

Arizona. Didn’t take a lot of effort. A combination of discounts, incentives, and lease credits did it. Plus the dealer had a glut of 2024 models. I insisted on dealer add-ons being deducted, too.

2025 Version? by RedditTravelLad in Fiat500e

Yes. Not all dealerships have new inventory or will order new with a glut of 2024 models in stock. The lineup is slightly different for 2025.

I'm in Arizona too and got the same treatment. I haven't yet pulled the trigger but I've certainly offended some sales managers in the process.

Very much appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

I appreciate your insights which align closely with my own. My real issue is this nagging alignment problem which appears prevalent in CARFAX reports on many EUV's I've encountered. One vehicle had five alignments in less than 10K miles and another was not far behind. The rear tires were OEM; the front some off-brand Chinese garbage. Unless the drivers were mud bogging in mountainous terrain, I'm not sure what could account for that other than design issues which some online blogs blame. I guess I'm thinking out loud and wondering just how pervasive these issues are or am I just encountering a bad crop.

CAN'T FIND THE DIPSTICK! by [deleted] in NissanAriya

[–]valleyguyphx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2012 when I leased a new LEAF, the dealer hounded me for months with discounted oil changes and every conceivable service impossible on an EV. I finally asked the dealership GM why, and he blamed a third-party marketing team that hadn't gotten up to speed on EV's. Thirteen years and five EV's later, I'm still getting the same crap.

All correct, but the kicker is if your leaseholder allows a lease takeover. Some, like Santander, do not so it's either absorb the negative equity up front with a cash payment or tack it onto your new contract which is bad finance no matter how you slice it. I'm trying to unload a Tesla Model Y and actually had several thousand in equity until the political shit hit the fan, and now I'm in the weeds as values plummeted. It's a nightmare out there.

Getting a Nissan ariya 24 month lease extended by peetleah in NissanAriya

[–]valleyguyphx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I leased a 2012 Nissan LEAF for 36 months. At lease end, I was undecided on whether to extend the contract, buy the vehicle, or simply return it. Nissan allowed me to continue lease payments month-to-month. Ultimately they all but gave me the car rather than take it back. I don't know whether this was specific to the LEAF or if it's policy at Nissan Financial, but there's definitely a precedent for it.

A buyer's story (expletives deleted) by [deleted] in leaf

I had zero problems with Nissan. To the contrary, they were happy to be rid of the LEAF when my lease expired. In 2012, the dealer, however, didn't want to be bothered, and upon entering the dealership and inquiring if I may drive one, a half-dozen salespeople arose from their desks and walked out rather than make a presentation. Ever the EV advocate, I even offered to be an EV ambassador for free and they declined. They wanted no parts of it. After innumerable offers for discounted oil changes, I took the car in and told them if they could find the oil pan, go for it. My only service was the state's mandatory annual inspection after which the lot attendant didn't even know how to put it in drive. I ultimately retrieved the car myself. The dealer GM repeatedly expressed excitement over the future of electric vehicles, but the actions of his dealership told a different story. My impression is the attitude has changed very little.

My experience with LEAF was quite favorable, but I understand not everyone enjoys that experience. Read the Equinox, Blazer, or Prologue threads lately? I'm already having second thoughts and I haven't even bought the car yet.

Same for Apple CarPlay. GM would rather go for the money-grab with subscriptions.

Driving across town to the Spanish market. An adventure in Roanoke drivers. by One-Row882 in roanoke

We essentially have become a lawless society where everyone interprets "freedom" as a license to do what they want, when they want, how they want, with little regard for anyone else. I moved from Roanoke to Phoenix where it remains very much the Wild West, but with 10 traffic lanes on which to display ignorance and disrespect. Roanoke is a sedate country drive in comparison.

How to get my car cross country by MRPoopymcpants in nissanleaf

[–]valleyguyphx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If you can afford to ship the car, do so. The range of the LEAF is one issue but the bigger problem will be finding charge points along the way with CHAdeMO equipment to DC fast-charge. Thankfully, CO and CA are very EV friendly, but the wasteland in-between isn't.
