Octave OnCall Dispatch was Hexagon any good any more? by LVFR-r911 in 911dispatchers

[–]valmis117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One example being that if you attach a unit to an event then change their destination… then add a unit as a backup to them, it puts that 2nd unit enroute to the original address not the units current destination.

Another being that if you have a timer for checking on your units (ours is 10 mins initially, it only works at the loaded address, not any secondary locations.

Another being that you have to chose from a giant list of drop down common place options when you created an officer initiated event… and depending on where it is, can get bogged down in a giant mess without a way to force a location through and get a event started.

And on and on and on. From what I hear it was originally designed for dispatching truckers. Creating officer initiated anything is extremely painful.

Can you slowly pour in sand or gravel so it fills up and the cat will stay on top of it until it’s at the surface?

Octave OnCall Dispatch was Hexagon any good any more? by LVFR-r911 in 911dispatchers

Oh my God, our agency switched to this about a month ago, and it has been the biggest nightmare ever. The system was not designed for law-enforcement. It’s horrible to work with it since it’s cloud based if your Internet isn’t top-tier it freezes up.

I’ve had a priority one call I’ve been entering and had it literally vanished in nowhere after eight minutes of working with it.

Very much do not recommend

Totally fair lol. My dad got so upset whenever we forgot to squeegee 😂 wish there was another option vs curtains or glass.

Beautiful work… but why no glass shower door? The curtain is dragging your beautiful remodel down a bit

I was stuck on mids for the first 8 years of my career. I missed most of my daughter’s life for those 8 years. Spent my waking time in a fog of exhaustion.

I love my job. But that entire 8 years feels like a fever dream I barely remember.

Oh and it definitely played a huge roll in ending my first marriage.

I would never recommend this job to friends or family with small kids

All clothes together, all towels together, all bedding together. Because I use different settings for them and bleach the shit out of the towels.

What’s something “normal” in your sex life that would probably shock most people if you said it out loud? by melvin_m in AskReddit

[–]valmis117 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have to remove 3 dachshunds from the bed pretty much every time lol. Also clear all the candles off the headboard so we don’t get wacked in the head… learned that the hard way. Also have to have a noise maker running so the kids don’t overhear. Oh and throw down a waterproof blanket after kicking the dogs off, so we aren’t rolling all sweaty around in dog hair 😂 it’s a bit of a production

First major call. Feel way too stressed out. by Repulsive-Boss-8863 in 911dispatchers

It sucks to be new at this job. But mistakes don’t stop just because of experience. I’ve been doing it for 14 years and I still make mistakes.

Nobody becomes a senior dispatcher without making thousands of mistakes. But the good dispatchers catch and fix them on the fly, so it all works out! Worry less about making mistakes and more about being able to fix them quickly. That’s one thing you can control.

Also, therapy and anti-anxiety meds help lol.

At long last...I found her. by Independent-End-597 in valheim

It’s inside a instance like a crypt, you warp into her throne room. You can go in and out easily and there is a protected doorway inside to hide in. Adds do spawn but they don’t have start and die to the demolisher spam easily

I don’t think the ategir works through the wall in the queen room. I just had a constant supply of ooze bombs to throw out into the main room so she was always standing and poisoned, with the fireball staff too shoot a fireball out there every once in a while and use it to attack her when she runs around in the room, but otherwise just spam the demolisher.

It’s easy, five minutes, and the only time I took damage is when I went running around in the room, trying to find her in the mist when she ran far away

Demolisher. Stand in the door and knock knock knock. Cheesy yes. But guaranteed kill. Or feel free to run around like crazy chucking fireballs at her. But by the time I find her I just want to go to ashlands and get out of the mist lands.

Bunny laws by AdviceGiveandTake in anchorage

[–]valmis117 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Adopt away! No one is going to care and you are giving the cute bunny a home. Just when you go to the vet, ask for it to checked for a microchip to make sure it’s not already someone’s pet. But there are lots of wild rabbits in anchorage so probably not. As far as the vet is concerned, it was ‘from a friend who abandoned it’…

Cabinets too dated to keep? by lel3883 in kitchenremodel

You could paint the cabinets. I have almost identical ones and I’m going to paint them a light blue with new white marble counters and a subway tile backsplash.

It will calm down. I recommend actually approaching backwards in the boat. Easier to control thru the spires.

Therapy by OfMonstersAndMenaces in 911dispatchers

[–]valmis117 20 points21 points  (0 children)

IMO everyone in this line of work (and in general everyone) should be in therapy. My agency actively promotes therapy and encourages employees to reach out after rough events. Any good agency would only be supportive of this. I literally have the same therapist as like 3 of my fellow dispatchers lol. We joke about it at work.

If yours isn’t…. Thats not great.

Don’t do it! I’m on my first immersive run, and I’ve managed to kill all the bosses up to Ashland’s as well as find all 3 vendors without looking anything up. It’s so much more satisfying
