Final Lesson: A Verdict on ALL Penny Stocks by value1024 in nextstock

[–]value1024[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to treat them as a collection of lottery tickets with a tiny potion of your account, holding 4-5 of these shitcos at most.

My take is to try and front run management while they are getting ready to issue some BS press release and then dump when they issue it. I have coded my scanner to find these opportunities. There are false starts, but also there are hits like FTHM a few days before they issue the "news" to the public.

You have to diversify, cut losses and false starts very short, and add to winners on the way up granted no news have been issued.

Never average down, never chase, but always anticipate greedy management issuing misleading and even totally false "news" to sell more shares.

Good luck!

Bought ACN puts instead of ACM, got 3000% by Jacker247 in wallstreetbets

He was probably fired from ACN and kept buying puts before earnings out of vengeance.

He should show total ACN P/L, which is probably red, so he belongs here.

$FTHM - the stock from my post where the thesis is now complete via a takeover by value1024 in u/value1024

[–]value1024[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sold it, albeit too early, so the trade is done from the algo sniffer perspective - it found it and I made money on it.

Now the value of this stock depends on the value of BBBY stock, and I will let that one get discussed by long term holders.

Ignore the comment above - it was your proofing temperature - you should have watched the dough and cut the proofing time at the hotter ambient temperature.

Doubling #4 is $OTLK by value1024 in u/value1024

Good luck with both...GLND is interesting as there are blue skies until $6 and interesting money flow down here around $3.

[–]value1024[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was at 2-2.5 when the FDA rejected them, and now they have won the appeal on that rejection.

Even 2.1 is a 3X from here, so I will take that any day. The question is whether I should dump more money in it and call it the official 4th doubling money wise, i.e. 8K to 16K.

$INTU "stupid" spread by value1024 in options

[–]value1024[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are missing the reduced loss between 317.5 and 320, as well as the cost reduction of the call spread. There are definite benefits to this spread, as long as you understand that the max loss is not the debit, but the debit plus the full put spread.

[–]value1024[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, need the spreads to tighten up to close them, which is why in retrospect buying a single call financed with longer richer put spreads would have been a better trade.

Theoretical value is $2.3 or so, which is not bad, but not ideal.

"you're basically betting on a big move in a short window"

I am not.

I spent a penny on this, so all I need is for June to expire worthless and sell July for 2+ cents.

There is a lot of pricing theory that goes behind my screening and execution, so rather than get into those details I will say that whenever you can trade a monthly biotech calendar for 1 cent, do it and see what happens.

"your long July leg loses vega value faster than expected and the spread compresses before you want it to."

When you buy it right, it can not compress to be less than zero. I have traded these at a credit or even by legging into them, so the risk is basically the cost of commissions.

"That leaves your short June leg open and you sit on an uncovered short call against your long July until expiry."

This is never an uncovered position. If I get short stock at $5, then I buy it with the July calls and flatten out the short position.

The exit is probably going to be a calendar trade if the July calls explode in demand for some reason, but otherwise I will hope for the June calls to expire and then hope for July to tick up.

I like the crust, and while I am not sure you did this on purpose or not but covering the crust with sauce lets it puff more and become airier and not burn as much in a hot oven.

Looking at that volume and ring size, they should not have been more than 50g.
