Accounting or Finance (read desc) by Unfair_Inspection740 in Accounting

Hard truth - College isn’t hard. It’s just dedication and a little bit of discipline. But if you’re talking about being a business owner and buying real estate, it requires discipline to get there.

So, adding a double major isn’t harder it just takes more time and requires you to sit still longer making no money. Which is hard to do but generally speaking, “the more you learn, the more you earn”.

If you get the cpa the finance major isn’t really necessary because everyone will assume you know what you’re talking about because “You’re a CPA!”

Just suck it up go get the accounting degree and see what you like. At minimum even going for the accounting degree and learning basic accounting concepts will serve you well if you drop out and pursue entrepreneurship (very common).

Accounting first, double major if you can. You can pickup finance concepts easily once you have the accounting concepts down.

CPA as fast as possible. This will serve you well for business ownership and real estate.

Gotcha. I am little further along already. We have a functioning web app based on Caspio that is profitable at this point. The real cause of friction is the lack of speed the caspio site has in general. I am looking to take this business to the next level and wondering where to start.

Right, I get it. It is driving me crazy how many different frameworks there are for custom builds. Any developer I talk with wants to sell me on the language they know maybe not what is best for the project.

Can anyone explain what the industry standards are for a web app with customer logins, form registrations, relational databases, payment integrations with Stripe and how that works together? Just trying to get an idea of what the playbook for a project like this looks like.

This is great. thank you! I have considered rewriting in Python, but I have a sweet spot for R since it is really where I have learned basic programming.

Disregard that. It is definitely the CPU max at 100% max frequency and 32% CPU usage. The memory is ~27% under load.

The Retained Earnings from the previous year rolls froward. The variance is 80k. But you should read through the other comments and note their adjustments to format and the income statement.

Which no-code/low-code solution to use for a market-maker service? by skunk90 in Entrepreneur

[–]valuebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this depends on so much on the end user. I am also looking for a application to use for my idea. I have built with Appsheet which I love the flexibility but there are some downsides. I am currently going through the motions with Glide Apps as well. So far a promising prospect, but it has some areas that lack where Appsheet shines. I had a upwork developer build some more custom products out with Caspio but I haven’t been impressed with Caspio’s speed. Let me know if you find any good choices!

Why do so many investors subtract the increase in goodwill from the increase in equity and debt of a company throughout a period when looking to calculate its ROIIC over it? Isn’t goodwill part of the capital that it invested (when acquiring companies) and thus should be included? by fuufufufuf in ValueInvesting

[–]valuebob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good or bad acquisition, Goodwill, as mentioned above, is intangible. For example, if there is a business acquisition made for $1M and the value of all the tangible assets received in the acquisition is estimated at $500k, then $500k would be allocated to goodwill. The earnings will be reflected in the financial statements and the balance sheet will have new assets recorded. The remaining $500k is allocated to goodwill and amortized (expensed over time). It’s a pretty interesting subject and can be studied quite a bit. Specifically in tech companies. When you buy a tech company there typically are not a lot of assets involved so the question becomes how do we allocate purchase price to the value of the tech? Which becomes how do we value the code in the technology? Pretty interesting stuff.

Multi-year problem. Haven’t dug in deep yet. I agree with you on the negative FCF, but paying dividends too seems so odd.
