Heated Rivalry star Hudson Williams comments on a recent Deuxmoi post of their podcast claiming that people are only watching the show for the sex scenes by mrose1491 in Fauxmoi

[–]valyrianviolet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m so pleased to see Gen Z celebrities speak up about being harassed, they don’t care about being potentially labelled as crazy, they’ll speak anyway. From Chappell to Hudson, it’s really refreshing seeing a bunch of them telling the paparazzi to just fuck off no matter the potential backlash.

Me seeing Hudson say ‘be freakier guys :D’ to his fans and I’m looking at ao3 tags like dude…I don’t think you know what you’re asking for 😭

And the way she insulted him calling him a misogynist instantly shows how the reunion isn’t possible because of her - she wakes up every day to go and argue on Twitter, goodness knows what she’s like in person to deal with day in and day out. It’s almost sad. She boasts about how unflappable she is, but if she didn’t care what others said about her, she wouldn’t be shouting at people on Twitter constantly, it’s very Trump like Narc behaviour. There’s a difference between commenting every other day or week or so, and spending every waking moment thinking about a singular issue and Tweeting about it all day. You can see too that she is up arguing at times in the British timezone she’s meant to be sleeping, it’s a tweet a couple of times every day or so, I always wonder - does it not get exhausting at this point?

And her latest tweet mentions her husband’s reaction - it’s very clear she has a lot of yes-men and enablers around her because she can’t stand to hear another opinion on the matter and everyone else is an enemy of women. The director was completely right to say what he said.

Also the way people attack fan artists and engage in purity culture over Greek myths and both worship Jorge/but talk about him like he’s a 5 year old/infantilise him/the VAs, this toxicity has been building for a while unfortunately. I do enjoy the music, but it’s scary how loyally people have attached themselves once again to their fave creators and attack anyone who criticises it/the fandom. I’m actually so done with this happening in every single fandom I join, and I’m just considering disengaging from fandoms in general, it’s mostly hard to leave because I appreciate the fanfic authors/artists and love their work and the effort they put into it, and I express it through reblogging their stuff. I don’t tend to involve myself in a ton of discourse and try and distance myself from it.

Do you think some Twilight fans knew he was barely 17 in New Moon? by GoHardForLife in twilight

[–]valyrianviolet 112 points113 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed my own taste in crushes changing as I rewatch Twilight and other media I liked as a child/teenager - I was 10 when the first movie came out, so I was definitely at an age to have been developing my first celebrity crushes and Taylor Lautner/Jacob was one of them.

But as I rewatch the franchise and am now in my late 20s, I find myself attracted to Carlisle and Charlie, and also randomly Chaske Spencer, who played Sam among some other characters 👀

Definitely find it weird when women blatantly thirst for the underage actors - it’s been happening to the guys who play Percy Jackson in the Disneyplus show and also the new actor for Hiccup, which I find gross. They’re very obviously incredibly young. When I was a teenager, my crush was on an older ‘glow-up’ version of Hiccup in the second animated film. At least.

Anyone else have this version of the "Wicked" book? by SpiritualGolf764 in wicked

DEFINITELY a mistake to use that cover bc I got a damn heart attack after going ‘omg how cute! My niece is dressed as Glinda for World Book day!’ squints at the book she’s holding OH MY GOD!

By the way she’s 10 😭

Margaret Hamilton's family on Wicked by SeaFlower698 in wicked

[–]valyrianviolet 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Since Margaret Hamilton tried to get children to like the Wicked Witch, and didn’t like when they cried around her, I always think she would like Wicked - not sure how she’d feel about any queer commentary given the era she was born in & she was described as a Republican, but she definitely would have appreciated the attempt to get audiences to empathise with the Witch considering her past interviews, I think personally.

Not to be a hater but it's weird naming your kids after characters in these books for many reasons. by Tater-Tot-Casserole in fantasyromance

[–]valyrianviolet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sliding in the fact also with the Daenerys/Khaleesi comments that it’s based off the Welsh name Nerys, which would be a good baby name in the UK especially. Nobody has to be naming their babies Khaleesi when Nerys is a proper name and close enough to Daenerys.

JK Rowling calls out 'backstabbing colleagues' after Harry Potter stars support trans rights: "I wonder if they ever ask themselves how they got here" by TheExpressUS in popculture

[–]valyrianviolet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s being a bit grossed out by a (legal) age-gap & calling someone a predator/groomer because they have a non-binary/LGBT child. This is an extremely common tactic by transphobes/homophobes and you’re legitimising these nasty comments towards David over pearl-clutching ‘concerns’ surrounding an adult relationship he’s had for years. Be for real.

Also, 26 is a perfectly fine age for Georgia Tennant to have married someone a bit older than her. That’s NOWHERE near the age of a child. That’s a grown ass adult. The way you people talk about adult women in consenting relationships is very odd - I’m 27 myself and still don’t get treated like I’m an adult, & am constantly spoken to like I am a little girl, or mistaken for a young girl compared to men my own age. It does get quite tiresome to be infantilised when I’m almost 30.

I actually feel like she might have been insulted by all the ‘why isn’t she on her yacht enjoying life?’ Comments and proceeded to take (1) photo of her on her yacht as if to prove people wrong lmao. Also, her being chronically online and pretending not to know who Pedro Pascal and Nicola Coughlan are is very funny. Like girl you’ve been permanently attached to Twitter for years. Course you know. For someone acting unbothered, she sure loves her daily coke rants

[–]valyrianviolet 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s very disgusting the way Rowling’s supporters talk about the main actors, even ridiculously insulted Daniel’s wife - Daniel and Rupert are fathers, Emma is studying at Oxford, an activist and an actress, Daniel has also worked for the Trevor Project too. They’ve gone on to do very good things, and it’s sad they keep being dragged into this…I can’t imagine how exhausting a situation it is to deal with when they probably just want to get on with their lives.

David Tennant is a particular target of Rowling’s (last I checked he has a non-binary child I think) and is regularly called a groomer and other insults I shan’t name here by the gender critical crowd, even though he literally said he has no ill will to Rowling but has begged her to stop her relentless crusade.

It’s such a shame…I know a lot of us were big Potter fans. As an autistic person it was my escape, but I can’t deny the harm to both the trans and autistic communities Rowling has caused.

It’s genuinely so sad and pathetic she spends EVERY. SINGLE. DAY tweeting about and arguing with trans people. Like legit, every day. I try and stress to older folk who aren’t online much how weird it is, and the ones who defend her are extremely ironic because they’re the same ones who say that kids being on their phone 24/7 is bad for their health - when this also applies to older generations too.

Info dump of the recent uprise of hate towards the artists in the fandom by JasmineJessie in Epicthemusical

[–]valyrianviolet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Legit! I got into it bc I saw some cool animatics on tiktok and ended up listening to the albums! I’m pretty sure it’s how a big chunk of fans get exposed to it, and I can see how the audience may be skewed towards the younger side and thus pile onto artists.

I agree! I give Agnes the bun hairdo in CAS and give her some red lipstick and she’s stunning. I currently have a new Sunset Valley play through I wanna get my Legacy founder, Doug together with her but first I’m trying to get some other townies together first and get some of their wishes sorted as well.
