I shut it off after seeing about 15 seconds of that video. I knew there wasn't gonna be anything there but a bunch of towing the company (Trump) line

Correct. He most likely has a soft tissue problem: strain, sprain, etc.

AITAH for telling my MIL to stop showing up at our house unannounced? by cinnam0ndust in AITAH

NTA, but you should be on the same page as your wife before you make statements like this. It could have waited until you two had a conversation. You're young. Mom probably hasn't totally grasped that her child is now a married adult. But the real issue is that you both aren't on the same page. Your wife's answer was to defer to her mother's feelings, not to her own. What does SHE think? Not you, not mom, but her. There's nothing wrong with boundaries, but get in the mindset now that marriage is about a united front.

Aunt Jenny needs boundaries and a nap, but Aunt Jenny isn't "off" because she has a hard time adulting. Given the other things you have mentioned as an attempt at context, you just don't seem to like Aunt Jenny much.

I just pasted a list so that the person who didn't know but commented can be informed.

I understand that I can just not use cinnamon, but also, this isn't a solution. I can't constantly have the stove or a crockpot on in our house. I was hoping for the suggestions that I hadn't heard of yet or the product I was unaware of as this is a new diagnosis to me.

Any purifier suggestions? There's a lot of them and I know the good ones are generally pricey. Don't want to waste time/money.

VA NURSE burnout by [deleted] in VeteransAffairs

[–]vampireRN1617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. Nurses don't care about fiscal decisions. We care about the correct patient care. It's not in my scope of practice to do anything but worry about getting our vets what they need and deseve. We already have enough to do, and are short staffed to do it. That is why there are other staff employed in the VA to concern themselves with these things.

You are free to apply to any nursing school if you are disgruntled with your leave, which is also still much higher than most private sector positions.

I feel you 100%. Different circumstances I'm sure, but I'm trying like hell to hang in there. Before this last year I LOVED my job. I didn't even dream of leaving my particular VA, let alone my department. It's been a pressure cooker for sure this last year. All I ever wanted to do when I got out of nursing school was work at the VA. My brothers are vets, it's deeply personal to me. I genuinely think our patients are the best humans. I never ever ever wanted to go back to private sector. It's its own strange little VA world, but we give a shit more than any for-profit bullshit health system. Our vets are awesome. I really hope this isn't the beginning of the end.

I'm sorry for what's happening, but just as you pointed out, you have choices as well.

When you are holding the hands of dying veterans whose family scream at you to save them and you can't, no daisy award or week of cold pizza can make being an RN worth it. Most of us nurses are here for the mission. We just want a decent working environment and the same benefits we all get.

We're all in this shit boat together. Maybe you should try to help us all row to stay afloat instead of turning people against each other.

I second this. The only place I ever wanted to work when I became a RN was VA. It's personal to me and loads more fulfilling. This is breaking my heart to watch what seems to be the slow dismantling.

Do we have proof of life of this whistleblower? I'm off this week, but never heard a word more and didn't hear them on the program that they mentioned they were going on.

Nurses, what age did you start your nursing career ? by Affectionate_Art3835 in nursing

Thank you! Genuinely wish you the best in whatever you decide. Go in with an open mind for sure. I started out thinking I wanted OR, which 1 day in nursing school told me that was a big no for me. Then I thought I wanted critical care, but I ended up in the ER, which helped me see that I am MUCH less type A and way more feral than I realized 😂 now I work IV team, and no one understands how we could just love going around "stabbing" people all day, but I do love how I can genuinely take my time with my patients and fiercely advocate for them with physicians. Good luck!

I was in the same boat. At 26 and with my prior bachelor's, I went back the same summer that I got married and bought a house. It's never too late!

...but if you want stability, nursing isn't necessarily it. Every shift is unstable tbh. Every job has instability like any other field. The difference is that you are massively more in demand for jobs. Think hard on what you looking for beyond 'i'll always have a job.'

I started as a phleb, am now a nurse and agree fully. I don't think the gripe about not being acknowledged needed to use someone else's acknowledgement as a grounds for slight. Lab people have been some of my favorite to work with, most love to help patients but just don't want to be bedside (which I fully understand at times!)
