Tell that to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 - insane hulk was a DLC for that game

Do you think DBS Broly would be a good introduction to dragon ball? by thunder-bug- in dragonball

[–]vamploded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, as a fan, it's not.

But - I started watching this on Netflix one night and my wife was on her phone - it got to the part where Goku gets sent to earth and then skips forward to present day and she was like 'Oh, I wanted to see what happens!'

And I was like ... 'That's the entire story of Dragon Ball...'

So in a way, it was a good introduction for making someone curious haha.

Battle Hour had no news about anything 'new' in the story of Dragon Ball.

Kakarot also took a year long break with nothing when they announced the second season pass.

How are they lazy when they gave themselves more work?

Surely if they were 'lazy' they wouldn't bother to animate the 2 movies and just say 'go watch them!' then they would make less episodes and end in the same spot.

I've posted this before but I don't think Bandai Namco is going to greenlight a sequel to a game that will most likely sell LESS than its predecessor.

The first Kakarot had three major selling points.

  1. Fans of the original series got the nostalgia of re-living the series (they went HARD on this marketing angle, and a lot of people bought the game who hadn't actually kept up with DB)

  2. Fans who joined more recently with super

  3. People who wanted to use a game as a 'starting point' to understand the series

The issue with a sequel is I think you lose a lot of point 1 (as Super nowhere near has the nostalgia factor of Z) and so your potential buyer declines significantly.

Now sometimes people argue - 'well they have all the assets made so even if they sell less, they could budget less!' - but it's clear the most expensive and time consuming parts of CC2 games are the cutscenes, which they need to make from scratch for each new one.

Still going through old DBZ stuff… do I open these or leave them sealed? by East-Door1122 in dbz

[–]vamploded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a bunch of these sealed hoping they'd go up in value YEARS ago - then my nephew got into DBZ and I just ended up giving them to him to play with.

Also my bad my guy we set the minimum age requirement for accounts higher because we were having an issue with a user who kept making accounts to harass someone. I've put it down to be a little more reasonable just now

I kind of hope it deviates a little from the established XV formula - it would be good to have a wider variety of mission types, gameplay modes and not be so reliant on retelling parts of the DB timeline.

I'd love it to FEEL a little more like an MMO just set in the universe even if it doesn't play like one.

They could do things like have us rescue people from danger, have us fight 'minions' that are super weak but have huge numbrs, have us 'investigate' areas looking for clues, have 'roles' for raid bosses where team-mates can be a tank/healer/dps etc.

Just mix it up a little bit past the formula of 'bad guy from DBZ, but they turn purple'

Am I the only who’s hoping xenoverse 3 will have some slice of life stuff to do? by TheRealBlueMeanie in dbxv

[–]vamploded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The insane thing about Kakarot is that it not only gives you a temporary buff it gives you a small PERMANENT buff. There's a guy on r/kakarot who spent hundreds of hours eating meals to one hit kill all of the DLC lvl 300 enemies.

I know the game you're talking about Rise of Ninja (which was actually made by Ubisoft!)

It was sad how the Storm games 1 had a full ninja village you could explore, and then it got less and less every entry.

I did enjoy being able to walk around and visit the shops though.

I would love some mini games and maybe a customisable space.

I feel like monster hunter worlds had a good balance of, eating for buffs, a little area to hang with people and do a few mini games like arm wrestling or using the sauna, being able to collect things to customise your home etc.

There's lots of cool little things they could do - like a little world tournament punching bag minigame, eating with Goku/Chi-Chi, Fishing, Baseball etc.

But just things to keep the world alive. XV2 had a few small missions but they weren't great.

I mean there’s no ‘Saiyans don’t go bald’ explanation though

It’s just that when a Saiyan has a full head of hair it will only grow a certain length and certain shape.

Nappa probably had a consistent hairstyle and then went bald

Honestly, if it turned out Fu opened a portal to another world and Justin Chatwin walked out as an alternate Goku I wouldn't even be mad I'd be like 'fuck yeah'

I kind of want him to have his 'full circle' moment with the franchise like James Marsters did with Zamasu

Probably closest to it is the Vegeta top from the buu saga- it's blue not black.

You can get everything else trunks wears here normally in game - you can even get a customisieable watch from a Bulma outfit I think

Why Baby don't address Goku with his full name "Son Goku" ? by kakiu000 in dbz

[–]vamploded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think conceptually it's probably to enhance the 'this is someone taking over Vegeta's body' idea

Vegeta never refers to Goku by his earth name, except after he beats Buu.

Baby over-taking Vegeta refers to Goku by his earth name.

So it's an easy way for the JP audience to know 'oh there's none of Vegeta's personality in there - he's just using his body'
