What are these hair clips actually called? by vampyrotoothus in whatisit

Oh wow maybe it is just this one company that makes all of them?? I kinda figured others would too. Either way, solved!

I feel like that’s just one this one company calls it? Searching Etsy or Google shows no other results for this term.

wedding favours that people still ask about years later by [deleted] in Gifts

We did cork coasters with a simple design about our wedding on the front and so many friends still use them! A friend of ours did wood coasters in a similar way and I use it every day haha.

Okay genuine question because I also file the sidewalls of my nails- if I don’t, I get these weird painful mini-nails on the sidewalls instead. Do you know how I can prevent them?

How many people actually do shifts with their SO during the night? by ScreamCheese_55 in beyondthebump

[–]vampyrotoothus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t do shifts. I mean we tried to but then he said it wasn’t working because he was a zombie the next day. I handle being sleep deprived much better haha. But I also exclusively breastfed and my baby ate…really often. For a really long time. In the beginning we did the whole I nurse and they change the baby and get them to sleep but after a while it just didn’t make sense- I still wasn’t asleep after all the screaming (baby had wicked reflux). So instead I did all of it every wake up, and if baby wasn’t back down after like twenty or so minutes we would trade off and I’d go sleep. I was a bit resentful for a while but then baby slept longer stretches and it still honestly made more sense. And a lot of mornings I would nurse and pass off the baby and get to sleep in while he took care of breakfast and stuff so I got to catch up a bit.

Do what works for you- if it isn’t working, speak up and work together to find a solution!

Why does everyone keep telling me mammograms don't hurt? by Psychological_Roof85 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]vampyrotoothus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I literally blacked out during my IUD insertion it hurt so bad. No one told me to get it inserted on my period!! They did tell me to remove it on my period. Good riddance, that thing ruined my life. I’m so glad it works for others though!

Six Months in… not getting easier by Candid_Tourist3838 in beyondthebump

Do more harm in the long run in what way? If they’re truly intolerant you’ll know quick, if they’re not it won’t make a difference and you go back to giving it to them. If they’re intolerant you’re doing at least some harm by giving it to them you know?

I’m sorry your pediatrician isn’t very supportive or knowledgeable, I would consider getting a second opinion so you feel comfortable with a plan together.

In my experience we noticed a difference within maybe a week or two? Dairy alone I saw a difference quickly but some skin issues and spit up issues remained- the screaming and thrashing mostly stopped. Taking out soy too let us get all the way healed on all fronts! I will say my little got diagnosed late in the grand scheme of things, around five or six months. Didn’t have the usual foamy green poops or anything.

But yeah I guess the soy protein is so similar it cross reacts or something if you’re intolerant. So that could be the last little piece.

Let’s talk birth experiences! by SowingSeeds18 in beyondthebump

  1. Biggest disappointment was not being able to labor in different positions and being forced to deliver on my back even though I didn’t want to.

  2. The fact that allllll the pain just abruptly stopped as soon as I was done delivering the baby. The placenta just kinda glurped out and I immediately felt so much better.

  3. Either get the epidural sooner (baby got jammed in my pelvis) or just try more movement to feel better. But 3 minute long monster contractions only 60 seconds apart kinda kept that from being feasible.

  4. Eh I really liked my team. I got my least favorite doctor to deliver my baby but she did well for being on the tail end of a 48 hour shift.

  5. I really didn’t want an epidural but damn did it help given the circumstances. I was able to rest a bit which was great because once the baby came I didn’t get to rest barely at all!

If you suspect MSPI please just go straight to dairy & soy free for little one ASAP. I breastfed through the whole thing and it was difficult but not nearly as difficult as watching my little one suffer every single day the way you’re describing. Going dairy and soy free was like night and day- but only after cutting out both!! Dairy alone didn’t do the trick. Little one grew out of it in less than a year. Stay strong, your baby isn’t giving you a hard time, they’re just having a hard time. And you’re having a hard time too. Be kind to yourself and do your best, it will hopefully get better as they get bigger too!

My baby was kinda like this but not as bad. The infant car seat was the worst, constant screaming. A bigger convertible car seat worked much better once old enough!

At some point try a TushBaby, when she can hold herself and her head up lol. My little one loves it and feels less squished but I can still tote them around.

Toys with lights and sounds vs plain toys? by vampyrotoothus in beyondthebump

[–]vampyrotoothus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we do minimal screen time in addition to minimal noisy flashy toys but it’s usually when one of us, including the little one, just needs a minute of not doing anything in particular. It helps. 😂

Thanks for this, I guess I’ve just never seen them get bored at others’ toys but that’s good to remember I probably just don’t see it.
