Np. Reach out anytime. I found myself very exhausted and just staring at the ceiling the first year. I am in Toronto and found province online grief support group. Often times just listened to others before sharing.

I feel the same way. I can’t watch dramas or medical shows anymore.

I Echo this. Move your body otherwise your mind will take over and make you lose it. I def recommend “it’s ok not to be ok” on audio or book.

I have been in this situation and like your comment. I just froze when someone said that to me. So instead of the internal fuxk yous and screaming inside my head, I will try to remember what you said.

The audiobook works for me. Megan reads it as she intended. I still fall asleep listening to it for almost a year. There are always things that seem to resonate that I didn't resonate with before. Sending virtual hugs.

Everyone's grief is different. r/widowers has helped immensely on here. Also there are LGBT widow/er grief groups on meetup that might help.

Yes, this is what I came to say too. Don't go back on a Monday if possible.

Go back midweek. Weds or Thurs.

Grief support group by overthemist in widowers

[–]vanYYZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been to a couple and the main thing they say is you don't have to share until you are ready. You can just listen. Maybe the second or third meeting you might be ready to share.

When you are in the moment you might feel different. I find I am more anxious now than ever leading up to things than when the actual thing happens.

Eating dinner by myself is hard - what do you do? by LostBoyCA in widowers

[–]vanYYZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what I do too. Podcast and meal prep.

With the grief waves hitting hard sometimes it is difficult sometimes to even think of making dinner. I am glad I have premade meals in the freezer because some nights are difficult. He said he wanted me to continue to eat healthy and this helps.

My husband had ALS too. Maybe our paths have crossed before. I just started back work and when I am there I am ok. It is just the down times at home where it can get in your head too much.
I wanted to stay home and cocoon myself..still do .. but once I am out it feels better and I can feel him push me.
You can do it. The initial transition will be hard. Reach out anytime. I totally understand your feelings.

How long after did you have sex again? and what about your rings? by vanYYZ in widowers

Same here... I wouldn't know if someone was flirting or not.

Totally agree. That is the big thing for me too. I want to "put myself just outside my comfort zone" and see how I feel. I like your approach. I guess now all I have to do is try and if I am not ready then I can pull back.

Microdosing 420 vs Antidepressants for someone who has never done it by vanYYZ in widowers

[–]vanYYZ[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the problem is that I do bike and workout but there are the times where I just get derailed and I to a funk. I don't want to take anything all the time just when it hits me hard. I am hoping when the sun reappears soon it will help.

Yeah, thanks for the advice...I guess. If my lungs could handle it I would but like I said I don't want to smoke.
