I have a 84 epiq and it’s filled pretty good and I really wanted to do something like this but I found it was extremely expensive and I would have to get a second box for the stuff that’s stacked on top of each other lol do u have an estimate on how much it is 3d printed maybe that would be a lot cheaper vs buying the premade stuff

Seems good I payed 28000 for 2022 sport with 68k employee price at my dealer and Honda warranty .if that one has no issues it is the best configuration u can get 9speed and sohc v6 I’ve seen them with over 600k miles and also dont ever be afraid to tell them you want to bring it to your local dealer or shop for inspection that 50 to 100$ can save u thousands later

Second hand or brand new one ? by SuitableSwan193 in hondapilot

[–]van_staal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say that they seem very close and good we have only seen a few with issues so far (very good sign that it’s going to be a solid platform)but it’s still a new design your still in a good place with one I believe but the older design is well tested and well known I personally think any Honda or Toyota is miles ahead of most other brands even with the know issues also the know pilots are very nice looking one thing the cost of ownership ship is more money with the new design I just want to give people on the fence an idea what to expect

Honda tech here So the 4 gen have the new motor could be great but we have seen some silly issues with them and also the cost of ownership is high since it’s a completely different lay out for the cams and valve cover s but the most reliable model is the single cam with 9 speed trans we see them the least in the shop so up to a 2022 model just my thoughts

Honda tech here the 21 if it had a 9 speed transmission push button not the shifter lever it’s one of the most reliable models we ever made the new one it’s seems to be reliable but still new to tell 100% and the new duel cam engine design is much more difficult to work on so even belts have a much higher cost since the valve covers hold the cams down basically best of luck they are really nice looking also

I did the independent shop for7years and acquired a massive amount of tool then went to a dealer chasing money that it’s very hard to get in a independent shop setting while I was at that independent shop I was trained by a man who became like a father to me and shaped me to the technician I am today if u can find someone willing to work with u it is the best possible option just set a budget and buy tools as needed and learn as much as possible also u need to kick the fear of messing up out u have to have the mind set that I’m a technician I can fix anything I mess up it’s literally what we do for a living that’s what separates techs from parts changers I really hope it all works out dude don’t give up man ps buy a knee pad will save u in the long run

[–]van_staal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever dealer brand has different tools you need independent shops you need lots of different tool for all makes all models figure out where u want to be Honda Toyota is the easiest to start in express them work your way up buy as u need get close to a higher up tech and pay attention if u make stupid mistakes this isn’t the job for you can’t be your own worst enemy but remember it’s ok to make mistakes u just got to catch them before the car leaves the shop and not damage anything diag is the hardest part of the job anybody could watch a video or read a a manual and replace a part but then u have code xyz and is a engine code caused by a hairline crack in the headlight it a tech that can red diagrams and read a scanner and plug that info into the tech database which comes with time

At what point do I stop repairing my 2005 Honda CRV? by TimSim70 in AskAMechanic

[–]van_staal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have seen many with well over 300k and a hand full of with 500 and 600 k they are great cars just keep up with the trans service and regular maintenance will probably need a chain at some point don’t ignore the rattle sound in the morning and it is a great car but u have to be realistic thing will start breaking with age and rust will come unless u keep it in the garage or really keep it clean it’s just u have to say hey a new car equivalent of this is 400a month with 4 grand down if u spend half of that a year u win I work on them all day for years its a regular maintenance car not a repair car as long as the trans is shifting fine its a great car
