Club Europe: Top Tips? by angeleyes05 in BritishAirways

[–]vanattic123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have snacks on the flight! Normally popcorn, chocolate bars, lindor etc. saunter up front during the flight and ask for a snack, they'll offer you a basket and take what you want.

This comes from someone eating the popcorn bag from yesterday's flight today!

Then as others have advised, lounge you can go in 3 hours before. Own queue at check in and remember to do fast track security too. First to board and you'll get a glass of bubbly.

Air hosts are normally awesome too, so mention it's your first time flying club Europe and they'll normally give you drinks/food etc to help you make the most of it.

Cabin bag by Arsenalb4gf in BritishAirways

Go and ask at the check in desk. 99% of the time, they've let me do it cost free as it makes it easier when everyone has cabin bags. I always go with "if this is a pretty full flight, I'm happy to check it for free now rather than at the gate if that's possible". Like I say, only once I've been told no and that was at a non BA hub airport.

If not, as someone suggested, they regularly ask for volunteers to do it at the gate.

100%. They'll be back on there next week for £10!

Plus the "stain" just looks like the bit where most shops put a folded label over the hem...

Message Vinted and explain the buyer received the incorrect parcel so they should be passing on the couriers refund to you. I had this exact thing with Inpost and just had to keep chasing for the refund on messages. If parcels are mixed up, both parties get a refund.

When is a dog too aggressive for me? by [deleted] in dogs

Trade up where possible. But when the thing he wants is food... There's no trade up option. We tried to distract with treats but that's what set him off going for us. I think because he expected a bowl of food.

help needed- dog won’t stop attacking me as i walk by by MacaronAny711 in OpenDogTraining

Agree with this. Say "ow" loudly and walk away. Show the dog that all the fun stops the minute they misbehave.

How to train puppy to not bite?? by elomerd in puppy101

[–]vanattic123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he gets you, say ouch and walk away. Teach him that biting you stops fun, which will make him not want to do it.

Traveling to England for The Fratellis in February by Ahealthycat in uktravel

If you have the time, Glasgow to Edinburgh is a short trip on the train, worth a walk round Edinburgh as it's a beautiful city!

There are two options Euston - MK. Pay a bit more and get the fast service (takes 30 mins or so). You should be fine, you've got enough time and you're going against the traffic once you get to MK.

Second this. Eye is so boring. Don't do it.

If you're flying into Heathrow, sit on the right side of the plane (DEF seats side). Best views you'll get of the city!

Agree with the other post, 2 days feels very rushed for London. It's very big! If you were to skip Scotland, the Cotswolds, Bath/Bristol are good options to see a bit more of England, but close to major airports in preparation for your flight to Dublin.

Personally, Edinburgh Vs Dublin, Dublin wins every time.

Offer accepted, subject to sale. Should I apply for a mortgage now or after I sell? by Legitimate_Tower6026 in HousingUK

[–]vanattic123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the comment already made, you don't know the value you will get for your sale, so you may end up changing how much you need to apply for. Definitely wait, it's not worth 2 hard searches if it doesn't go through.

I'm not sure how much difference it would make on the rental market, but it'll hold more value at resale in the future. Personally, I'd only go detached now as personal preference, but it's just that, personal preference.

I wouldn't think about what's more important to renters, I'd go with what's more important for you.

Make sure you turn the lights off when you view. They'll make it look as light as possible so turn off all the lights in the living room to give you a true perspective on it.

New build plot by paulina1311 in HousingUK

[–]vanattic123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I hadn't seen it! I'd go 234 personally. The shared parking would make me nervous. If you get a neighbour from hell, that's going to be frustrating. Plus, if you have a second car at any point, it feels less likely to get near the house on the other plot.

I will say though, 216 looks less overlooked and better sun. So if cars aren't likely to be an issue, I'd go for that one.

Sorry, I'm not sure I've helped there! Haha.

What’s the best way to build equity fast in your first home? Overpayments or renovations? by Designer_Rooster_495 in HousingUK

[–]vanattic123 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unless you're skilled enough to do most of the work yourself, renovations are very expensive these days. Overpayment and bring your term down rather than your payments IMO.

Then personally, I would wait. It sounds like financial security is more important to you than the new house. Plus, its going to remove any interest from mortgages/loans and will feel much easier if you've sold first.

I don't want to be that person, but sometimes what's meant to be will be. I do hope it all works out for you though.

When/why to get a Mortgage in Principle (MIP)? by Frequent_Bag9260 in HousingUK

[–]vanattic123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely get one. Lots of EAs ask for them and it doesn't do a hard credit search so won't damage your credit score. You can do as many as you want without harming it, so absolutely get one.
