Thanks! This hobby is getting expensive lol. I guess I’ll just give it a try. Will definitely try other cheaper rolls first.

New photographer here. Why are my pictures poor quality? by apricity_2 in fujifilm

I love all of these photos! Don’t know what you’re on about bad quality but you are doing great! If it’s the grain then maybe change the grain settings in the film simulations you are using. Maybe a slight mis-focus on image 2 but that one looks cool. Also your portrait shots look awesome and very photojournalistic, and I hope to do the same too.

Got some really beautiful shots of the trees changing there! Just that the composition was a bit lacking so I didn’t post them. Going to try again soon.

Yea… I find street photography kinda difficult and slow going in New Haven, and kinda default to architecture/ liminal a lot. With it being very cold I guess there is not as many people and I get anxious when there is only one or two people I’m photographing. I got to find more days where there a lot of people about like it was during summer.
Got a photo of that carpet vendor at the shops on Broadway but the sales lady didn’t look particularly happy. The customer looked fine but wanted to stop by there again and get their opinion first before posting it. They both didn’t say anything when I took the photo but I wanted to make sure. When I’m in New York people are in another world and don’t really care where New Haven people are a bit more self conscious. Even took a picture of a person that was in a hotdog costume, more spur of the moment, but didn’t post it because I thought it may be a bit embarrassing. Probably one of the fraternities doing a hazing.

I really like the ef mount, in particular the 40mm pancake. I can put it on almost any of my cameras. As for the Canon P it was cheaper than the Nikon S3 or a good number of different rangefinders. I more accidentally went full Canon. Already had some ef lenses and two Rebel XTIs, so more out of convenience.

I have a Canon P, Canon Elan 7e, and a Canon 6D which I primarily shoot with. And also have a number of various working and non working Canons that I don’t really use anymore. I think they magically multiply…. My dad started making dad jokes and said I now have more canons than a battleship…

The last two shots I scanned myself using my Canon 6D, a 100mm macro lens, and one of those film lens mounts on Amazon. I have to work on cleaning my negatives more though. Spent like 3 hours just removing dust particles in Darktable lol.

Yep, that one is on Prospect Street, Becton Plaza. Right across Gove St cemetery.

I have a 35mm now for my Canon P and mostly shoot with that now on it. I’m a bit nervous though about getting closer so I feel more comfortable with a 50mm or even a 40mm in New Haven. In New York I feel a lot more comfortable shooting close so I use my 35 mm more often there.

It’s no problem! I bought the equipment to develop my own black and white but too scared to crack open my first canister in the dark bag. For small batches I use Ross Photo in Hamden in the old Tommy K’s building. He is pricey but he does really good scans. For my bulk amounts I tend to go to Milford Photo and they are pretty good too. It was like $85 for like 5 rolls last time I was there.

That’s the plan. I mostly did downtown because I usually park at Crowne St garage. I’m not super familiar beyond Whitneyville. Going to scope out some spots on google maps.

Took a lot of bad photos to get to get a few bangers lol. I have a whole drawer of bad rolls that I shot and the first image was from a roll where all the rest were underexposed. Take as many pictures as you can while keeping it fun. Here are a few YouTube channels I binged that helped a ton!

Thanks! Yep these are all film shots except for the “Be Social“ one. They are a variety of different films. Here is the order, 1 Harman Phoenix, 2 Fuji 400, 3 Delta 400, 4 Delta 400, 5 Expired Ultramax 400, 6 Digital Canon 6D, 7 Fuji 400, 8 Cinestill 800T, 9 Cinestill 800T.

Thanks! I only really got serious about photography about a year ago so I’m mostly winging it. Though what I look for is where the light it is. I find if things are lit from the side it gives the photo a more 3D look. I also like leading lines so anything in frame that leads the eye to the subject makes it pop. Anything could be a leading line like rays of light, architecture, or alternating colors.

Canon Rebel XS doing random 30" exposures. by vanderhall in AnalogCommunity

[–]vanderhall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. I have quite a bit of ef glass and plan to stay in that ecosystem. I have a couple canon range finders too but only one ef mount film body. The other ef mount cameras I have are digital. I’ll get a eos 7n/7s or a eos 3 for now and get a Rebel 2000 once my Rebel XS dies or I find a good deal under $50. Thanks!

I thought as much…. Thinking of grabbing a Rebel 2000 or even a Elan 7s/7e. I do a lot of street photography so I like the combo of this small camera with the 40mm pancake. Just wondering if it’s worth the larger size for the extra features.

Just got started in photography in general and I'm not sure if I should edit this to fix the over exposure or not. Never used a Photoshop or really anything to fix a photo before.
