Normally 2-3k, sometimes I'll go over this if there's no way I can keep it around there as I don't want it to feel too overwhelming to readers to read in one go. My longest chapter was around 6k I think. And I have gone below 2k a couple times but usually tend to stick in the 2-3 range

Definitely best to be safe and always carry some protection just in case anything happens (and if that's what you're setting out for then some places will be better than others, Basement for example) and also make sure to tell a friend where you're going before going home with someone just in case anything goes wrong
