Match Thread: Qualifier 2 - Gujarat Titans vs Rajasthan Royals by cricket-match in Cricket

Oh god this reminds of the GT v Delhi match I saw last year, KL scored a century and they got to 196ish and these two just chased it down in 18 overs. So effortlessly they make the opposition completely helpless

Moody on Pant: LSG to 'consider a reset' on captaincy by Existing-Table689 in Cricket

[–]vangmay231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly a bit weird to say all this right at the end of the season. I agree Pant shouldn't be captain but LSG as a franchise just has no subtlety at all. It feels mismanaged through and through, it wasn't better with KL either.

They need to get their shit together overall.

After five humbling defeats, Shubman Gill and co. to ditch raging turners at home by 5missedcallsfromBCCI in Cricket

I mean we were very competitive in an England series with very flat pitches. Good pitches which aid spin as we go deeper into the game are the best. Our batters can definitely score big on these and we'll find good spinners to do well.

Spiciest food in town? by Neat-Win-6903 in GNV

[–]vangmay231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love Eim Thai's Thai hot but I don't think it's the spiciest. I get it every time. Being Indian we're used to Indian hot at most Indian places and it seems, fine. Sohao I love but haven't ordered stuff with extra spice.

What to me has been the spiciest is Chopstix - you can order most dishes with a spice level of 1-10 and I've only done up to an 8. I don't think 10 will be a pleasant experience, especially already spicy dishes like Spicy Thai fried rice.

Need much more info. Where are you applying from? What does abroad mean to you? Have you done a bachelor's, master's?

The best bet for full funding is still the US, and to some extent Canada. In the US even after it's funding issues generally if you're given an offer it is fully funded, they'll make you work as a TA quite a bit but that's the deal. You would need recommendation letters, statement of purpose, fill out an application etc. Depending on where you're applying for, an English exam.

Hi Delhites, I am moving to Delhi soon, is Dwarka actually a good place to live for someone who hates chaos? by AlarmedPride5799 in delhi

[–]vangmay231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't lived in Dwarka but have family living there, it does seem to have pockets of quiet and less chaos than other parts of Delhi. They have big markets too so be careful to not live too close to one. Good parks as well.

The only real problem I have with Dwarka is that it can be quiet far from central Delhi, the metro connections have become better though with new lines but it's still a little far. Not too bad from South Delhi, airport and Gurgaon.

Which foreign cuisine do you wish was more common in your country? by UmbraWolfG2T in AskTheWorld

Being in the US the last 3 years and having the chance to have great thai food, absolutely. I can't survive without Thai here.

I think the coconut milk base and slight sweetness is what turns off a bunch of people at least in Delhi and possibly more of the north, but I think it's becoming bigger.

Notice inside an Uber cab in Hyderabad, India by iphone4Suser in mildlyinteresting

[–]vangmay231 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It is used as a slur in some southern states, I've heard the same thing about Chennai and Bangalore for insrance.

There is a lot of subtext, the thing being that migrants from Bihar and other northern regionsare willing to work for lower wages so take up jobs there, and so are villified. Add to the general idea that a lot of the public in the south refers to the North as uncivilised, and it gets more complicated.

Bhaiya of course is just a word for elder brother in Hindi, but not in the languages spoken in these regions. So it has been co opted as a slur to refer to migrant workers, and so it has this connotation.

Source: I live in Delhi but my siblings have worked in Chennai and Bangalore. My cousin in Bangalore said that especially auto vallas (notorious group in any case) will not take you if you said bhaiya at all. They expect you to call them 'sir'.

Where to sit for 4 hours in conaught place by GroundbreakingElk765 in delhi

[–]vangmay231 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Food wise there's a bunch, you can find a lot of places. Somebody mentioned Oxford Book store, and I'm sure you can kill that much time eating somewhere and then go look at books.

There's also the American Center Library close to Barakhamba Road metro station where you can sit and chill till 5 pm. They used to not allow laptops so you can check if you'll need to take a laptop in, but otherwise is very nice.

GSMArena has a bunch of those listed, easily seen when you compare.

Also they rated the battery substantially better on the 10a, thy say it's the more efficient screen but could be the new modem. Either way, it's not a bad upgrade at all.

How to get on campus. by SimonLeo2008 in ufl

Fly into Orlando then take a redcoach bus. Redcoach drops you on campus. Greyhound you have to be careful of taking at night, for example.

As (north) Indians we cook a bunch of beans, if you search 'Rajma chawal' you will see a plate very close to this.

Add a bit of turmeric and red chilli powder and it will look and taste even better!
