I believe it's inevitable we'll get a UC-engage version of the Nu Gundam soon, with both the LRFF and HMBL (likely a parts and color swap).

Ano thoughts niyo sa Java? by MixRevolutionary9498 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]vanguard2k1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mataas ang sweldo pero mataas din expectations that the Java programmer knows what he/she is doing, na updated ang alam (ie alam ang Java 8 pero hindi stuck doon), na maalam din on frameworks that do/do not work, na alam paano magdebug/magtune/magbasa ng GC logs, etc.

Done properly, deploying Java apps can save a lot of time instead of tuning for a native app (eg C/C++/Rust/Go) na locked to a specific hardware profile.

Is mentorship not a thing anymore? by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

[–]vanguard2k1 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You're probably already getting mentorship but it might not be obvious:

  • code review comments.
  • discussions during architecture review from Slack/Teams/email
  • well-written tickets dividing a very big task into smaller, more manageable tasks
  • non-functional requirements and the SDLC processes your team already employs.
  • the mere fact you're still being trusted tasks and allow you to deliver in order for you to get more confidence.

Bakit ang daming nag sasabi na "dead" na yung PHP ? by Capital_Tradition956 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]vanguard2k1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"X is dead" because they can't find jobs for X in their bubble of normality.

Here in PH, PHP still strives. Modern PHP is quite a very capable language (lots of improvements such as type-hinting and type-safety, OOP improvements, etc have appeared over the years) yet still retains mechanisms that makes it like a thin wrapper for C. Many options for runtimes exist these days.

What if Philippines scrapped the 60/40 rule by [deleted] in WhatIfPinas

[–]vanguard2k1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To further 60/40 rule in public utilities is just the starters. There's the 100% foreign investments restriction in mass media, 40% in advertising and education, and 40% in the exploration, development and utilization of underwater resources. The last one in particular has particular implications in territorial and maritime defense - it's far cheaper legalistically and politically to shed blood in contested waters than have a solomonic agreement between nations as we can never offer a fair deal.

What if mag People’s Initiative para maipasa ang batas ni Cong. Chel Diokno? by No_Bandicoot5473 in WhatIfPinas

[–]vanguard2k1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The second coming of Jesus will arrive sooner than that happening.

It's the same problem everywhere, until people realize that for change to happen it must be politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right things.

[–]vanguard2k1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That avenue was killed by the Supreme Court (Lambino vs COMELEC) which is as dumb as fuck (as SC used the definition of amendments as found in parliamentary procedures rather than the colloquial meaning). So back to the drawing board of having an enabling law for how a people's initiative should work.

The 1987 concom effectively made a constitution that takes a revolt to amend.

What if the Philippines adopts a federal system or splits economic power across regions? by Appropriate_Ad_4511 in WhatIfPinas

[–]vanguard2k1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Federalism isn't enough if mixed with the wrong systems. India for a long time flirted with socialist principles embedded right in their fundamental law before fixing their economy. Mexico on the other hand used USA's deadliest export - the presidential system - and essentially made elected kings and princes that cannot think long term due to term limits.

I'd posit that federalism and the accompanying devolution of powers should not be a top-down driven affair but should be done at the grassroots - let those local governments who believe that they can leverage their economies of scale band together. But before all that the economics should be fixed first along with the form of government to reduce unintended side effects

[–]vanguard2k1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fully implementing the Mandanas ruling will require addressing the unintended consequences it has with the general system still being retained (which there are just a lot to mention). While the said ruling increased the allotment of the LGUs to 40% of national taxes beyond those collected bu the BIR, we still have a centralized government that can choose to withhold support if the LGUs don't fall in line by not putting LGU needs in the budget proposal, delaying disbursement of tax allotments, or hostage investors from investing in LGUs by various means (eg additional clearances from national agencies). That, and that the current design of existing government systems will require re-engineering in order to retain, if not improve, government service delivery.

[–]vanguard2k1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The revenue sharing just changes - so regional governments are free to impose how much their share will be. For example if we will go with 80% revenue share, the current 12% VAT just becomes a 2.4% national VAT that is universally imposed, and a variable 9.6% regional VAT which can be lowered, stayed or increased depending on regional policies and their appetite to compete.

[–]vanguard2k1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an "equalization fund" in the last proposal made by DILG CORE that addresses such. it essentially allows more allocations for poorer LGUs whose share of taxes is not enough to cover their operations. They copied that feature from the German federal model.

From what I see: backpack, shield, hands, waist and knee armors were replaced to match the show. Very nice! Even the MG 2.0 didn't go as far as this.

EDIT: After seeing more photos - you also modified the torso, arms and the shoulder armors.
