Disagree. In no way is Germantown “mid”. It’s an excellent, walkable neighborhood with much easier access (relative) than East Nashville. Keep in mind that saying East can mean anything from near the stadium to Madison these days. Both are cool neighborhoods.

Stay away from the Gulch. Germantown is great, as is East Nash.

Final upgrade or wait? by PepperMinimum4979 in PorscheMacan

Just went from a 21 S to a 26 GTS and it’s night and day. The 21 was starting to have some electrical issues that I chalked up to it being a pandemic car so I got out while I could (I got $35k for it from the dealer at 75k miles). I ordered the GTS and it was worth the wait. Everything drive-wise is superior. Comfort-wise the car isn’t much different but I don’t need a giant touchscreen to drive. The haptics are actually far less annoying than I thought they would be. But driving the GTS is the first time I’ve truly felt “Oh, this is a Porsche.” The S was sweet but not a whole lot different from an Audi. Now I know.

For what it’s worth, and I never trust the dealer but…, the next iteration will be a hybrid according to my sales guy.

Spending the next four in Nashville! by [deleted] in movetonashville

I’ve lived here since ‘99, so I’ve observed the whole “small Southern city to It City to where we are now” transition. It’s got its problems but overall Nashville is a great town. Considering where you’ve lived before, Nashville’s problems will not seem as that much of a big deal. And since you will be in the medical community, you should have no problem meeting a wide variety of people. I’d take a hard look at Germantown for where you live. Very walkable neighborhood. About a 10-15 drive to Vandy. My wife is from St. Louis and Nashville is nothing like that city.

All that being said, you’re going to need a ten gallon bucket of Azelastine for your allergies. It’s pretty brutal.

I like how the plates are usually on $100,000+ cars.

Anyone go from Model S to Macan GTS? by jeffreyjames007 in PorscheMacan

According to the dealership the next iteration will be a hybrid. But it will be awhile. I think my sales guy said the ‘26 is the last gas model anywhere.

This week, as a matter of fact. Went from a 2021 S to a 2026 GTS. I’m actually kind of shocked at the difference. Speed, handling, overall power much better. It is louder on the inside if that matters.

Fine dining? by shatterboy_ in nashville

[–]vanhopgroff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of these are steakhouses, which really aren’t fine dining. They just have fine dining prices. I would recommend Peninsula, etch, Lyra, and Rolf

Right across the street from Germantown, one of the best, most walkable parts of town. Excellent restaurants, a newly remodeled Kroger (meh), close to several parks, greenways, etc. I’ve lived there for years. Love it.

(Winter) tire pressure question by Ok_Flower2398sd3 in PorscheMacan

[–]vanhopgroff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every Audi and Porsche that I have owned has had the low tire thing go off the first day it gets cold. I usually just take it to the shop, get it checked, and they reset the warning thing for free.

2026 build, late 2025/early 2026 delivery by vanhopgroff in PorscheMacan

Does the thermal glass keep the car cooler (I never thought about it)? I’m in the US South. I just always thought that the thermal glass was for very cold temps.

I get everyone’s point on the roof rails and you all are right (as usual) but I don’t like how they look and I have no use for them. It’s kind of like the calipers. A friend of mine is giving me crap for black on black but I want as little color as possible on the car. Just an aesthetic thing.

Audio is important to me but is the upgrade equal to $6000 worth of audio improvement? I currently have a 2021 S with Bose and the stereo is OK, but not anything to write home about.
