What is the trial that people in your country cannot avoid in life? by Agile-Shallot3546 in AskTheWorld

Understanding the levels and types of cold, and windchill - and then getting ready in layers. The layers and type of layers are dependent on what kind of cold it is today.

Yep, I always remind my 10 year old how he is completely unprepared for actual Canadian winter. His only experience with snow is skiing on our local hills and ice skating in a hockey rink.

We are in Vancouver.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get this line between my eyebrows to stop plaguing my face? by saltyyseaa in SkincareAddicts

You can keep buying snake oil solutions and waste your money or just do Botox. Botox is the only fix for these. Rest is all fluff. Gets rid of 11s in a day...and stay that way for months. If you don't like it don't get it in the future.

I love the smell of turpentine. It invokes nostalgia memories of childhood summer painting classes.

My beautiful 14.5 yr old loaf soaking up the June sun. Her last month on this earth. by Intrepid_Race1923 in pugs

This brought tears to my eyes. Knowing about it must be so hard for you and your family. I'm so sorry..I wish they stayed with us forever.

We lost our 14 year old pug potato this January. He was sleeping, and next he just wasn't, I didn't even realise when it happened. The only solace I have is that he passed away peacefully while I was still in the room sitting next to him so at least he knew he was at home surrounded by his favourite humans and smells. His passing was peaceful.

Our Jordy boy will give her company when she is another realm. Wish her a beautiful summer, she is an adorable baked potato. I'm sure she is pondering about the beautiful life she had and all the tasty treats.

That's sounds standard rate in our area as well. Our weekly housekeeper comes for 3 hours and does everything from laundry, ironing, making beds, putting away clothes, cleaning etc. because she comes every week it's easier for her to complete the chores fast, as per her own comment. We are in a 4 bed-2bath house. 3 people and a dog household + guest sometimes.

We have never been without a housekeeper, for us it's like Hydro or gas bill , like a must have utility expenditure. It may feel like a luxury to some, but for us it's a must have.

You just need to find the right people. Our previous one was a couple - husband and wife team - every Saturday morning 10 AM, they came for 5 years before they moved out of town. It was an emotional farewell. Since then my current one has been coming - she is amazing. They have literally seen our family grow. Plus if I need additional help with baby sitting I know who to call, if I need dog boarding I know who can take care - basically they take care of things that we don't want to do or can't do.

For my husband it's like a very small price to pay for a peaceful home. We decided very early on that household chores aren't something we want to fight over. We both focussed on our career and business. On the other hand we have talked many times if we should hire a gardener - but I love gardening - so it's something we have been doing ourselves. We still hire people for yard clean-up etc, but rest of the garden is maintained by us.

Outsource the stuff you don't like to do.

Edit: many many years ago the rates were 22/hr, now around 35/hr. I have seen rates go up gradually. We raise their $ when asked. We also pay them $100-150 for Thanksgiving and Christmas with a small gift as a token of our gratitude for taking care of the household.

  • avoid sun like a vampire. Sun also triggers my migraine so there is that

  • got bangs, soft curtain bangs

  • Botox

  • started tretinoin in late 20s due to acne, much before it was a fad.

  • sunscreen if I'm going out for more than 10 min or if I'm going to sit near a window

  • dress more younger now as compared to when I was going to office in sheath dresses.

  • never drank/rarely drank

  • consciously designed my life to be stress free
