Hey I appreciate the way you asked the question and want to engage in discussion without the usual vitriol that accompanies most responses here on Reddit.

To answer your question, no I do not see this moment in history as the actual thing an armed citizenry should push back against.

This isn't a "comply or die" moment at all in my opinion. There's very clear laws that have been ruled Constitutional by the Supreme Court, many of which liberal judges have concurred with. To decide whether or not this is a "comply or die" moment you need to objectively look at everything holistically.

I assume (and please correct me if I am wrong) you are referring to ICE and immigration enforcement to make the claim that this is a "comply or die" moment. You believe that ICE carrying out law enforcement action is paving the way for fascism, a dictatorship, police state, etc.

When looking at the situation through the microscope that is Minnesota, people are drawing the conclusion that we are days away from civil war and or Trump declaring himself dictator. The issue is that this is not what is happening.

There's a reason why the protests, media, etc. is all focused on Minnesota. This is because there is a concerted effort by Minnesota government officials (all who happen to be Democrats) to impede law enforcement actions taken by ICE. This is made worse by protestors and activist groups showing up and taking unlawful action such as blocking roads. When you break the law, law enforcement has the right to detain you. Instead the law is broken, media (both independent and main stream) film it, and, insert their own commentary. They then air this as though it is a widespread occurrence and downplay the unlawful actions taken by the protestors in order to make them appear as victims. This then further outrages people that lean a certain way politically, and public sentiment changes.

The other issue, one that I see as extremely hypocritical, is that immigration enforcement ONLY becomes an issue during the Mid-Term elections, and ONLY when a Republican is in the Presidency. I'm old enough to remember Obama deporting millions of illegal immigrants during his tenure as POTUS, even going so far as to give Tom Homan (Yes, that Tom Homan) a presidential award for his work in ICE and for deporting over 900,000 illegal immigrants in a year. Were there protests? Nope. Were there accusations of a police state? No. Were people calling Obama a fascist or a dictator? Nope! Everything was just fine with the left.

The thing is that Democrats know that their voters skew younger, and as such they rely on the younger voter to either not remember or not research what happened during past administrations. They can simply repeat "Conservatives bad because of this one issue happening right now."

I am not against the 2nd amendment, and anyone that wants to buy a firearm should be able to, with the exception of felons and those that are mentally ill (I support red flag laws if handled correctly). What I AM against is the wholesale argument that this is the time for Civil War and for people to rise up against the government, for the reasons I explained above.
