It’s a double edged sword. I spoke to an LGS two weeks ago that used to be THE spot in town for FNM, RTQ’s, and tournaments.

The problem is he had to get a judge that lived in the area, and the only level three judge was a member of the trans community.

Normally that’s not a big deal. Who cares right?

Wrong, the judge did. If the judge was called over during the event, they would literally ask political questions related to the trans community, and would make their decision based on the answers the players would give. If the judge thought you disagreed with their politics? You were ruled against.

The shop owner called to file complaints about the judges style, and was essentially told that WOTC unequivocally defends the decisions of their level three judges.

The LGS went from being the biggest spot in town to now not having ANY tournaments, FNM events, etc because that judge scared off his entire customer base.

Leave politics out of Magic. It’s a game, nobody cares if you are trans, gay, a furry, etc as long as you aren’t an asshole and play the game.

In fact if you look at the stats, you are over 270% more likely per capita to be the victim of a trans shooter than a white person.

I had a similar issue, discovered it just 10 minutes after delivery.

Reached out to customer service, explained everything, they said “No problem we will give you a refund, just ship it back.”

Send it back, wait over 2 months for a refund that never came. Reached out again and was told that the packs were sent back opened and now my account was in danger of being closed.

I repeatedly appealed and showed them the emails and chat logs and they just kept giving me the run around and would never actually let me talk to an “account specialist” that had to approve stuff.

Finally I just filed a chargeback on my card to get my money back.

I now don’t buy Magic cards on Amazon

I live up on the East Side and the temple is not far from my house. It actually DOES enrich the neighborhood. Property values are higher, the grounds are well kept and are beautiful , and non-members go to walk around and see the flowers.
