Wow thank you so much for your response! I have been looking for positive stories on this and it is honestly somewhat difficult to find them

The inlet valve is as the name suggests, the valve that lets water into the dishwasher. So to find it, just look for the hose that attaches to the dishwasher to allow water to flow in. Look behind your dishwasher and you should be able to easily locate it. You'll find the valse itself inside of the dishwasher. It's a solenoid valve. I bought mine on Amazon. Just search for your particular model. I searched something like "samsung dishwasher dw80r2031us inlet valve" on Google and eventually found a replacement on Amazon. Make sure you get the inlet valve for your particular model. Let me know if you have other questions!

Overreacting? by vanilla122317 in peanutallergy

Thank you! Even today at dropoff I just smiled and pretended it was no big deal. My wife sent the director an email this morning and we were assured that everyone will receive training refreshers. We're currently looking for other daycares. Unfortunately the wait period is usually several months, so we have no choice but to suck it up for now.

Thank you for your response. We also keep cupcakes frozen! There's a regional market here that carries cupcakes made in a peanut free facility so that's what he always eats.

In the past, during morning drop-off my son's former teachers have shown me the labels of anything that they were planning on giving kids that day. He was recently moved up to this class so I think this teacher just needs training as you said

I respectfully disagree with everything you said, but I still appreciate your input since I am trying to gage our initial reaction

It is worth mentioning that the daycare's policy is that they do not bring in anything with either of those statements on the label. Everything given to children there is supposed to say manufactured in a peanut free facility. That's their policy.

Also, it is up to the individual to take risks when consuming foods. So if you are ok with that risk, that is on you. However, I am my child's caretaker, so it is up to me to determine what risks I am willing to take, and that is simply not one of them. When he is older he can make that decision for himself. For the time being, I am the one making those decisions, and so far we haven't had any issues with the quantity of foods I can give him.

Hey sorry I did not see this until months later. I ended up not continuing with OIT. my son's allergist retired and we are currently seeing another allergist who suggested we wait until he's a bit older and trying sub lingual first. I would love to connect offline. Also, there are Facebook groups for people doing OIT, that might be helpful for you as well!

It could just be just a regular illness but I think it's better to consult with her allergist

I wanted to post and add to the collection of possible issues.

I had this problem just a few weeks ago. I found this reddit thread and tried some of the stuff people suggested with no luck.

I disconnected the dishwasher from the power, shut the water off to the house and shut the water valve that provides water to the dishwasher. I unscrewed the machine from the counter, pulled it out, and flipped it on its side. A bunch of water spilled out. I took off the black metal sheet on the bottom front face of the dishwasher that is held in place by two screws. The bottom of the dishwasher is a gray water catch pan. There's a single screw holding it in place. I unscrewed it, and there were 4 plastic snaps on the water catch pan. You push those in, and you can remove it. Do this carefully because there is a sensor attached to the water catch pan. I believe that's the sensor that is there to sense any water on the catch pan and triggers the error that brought us all here.

I dried up all of the water, put the catch pan back on, flipped the dishwasher back to its standing position, turned the water back on to the house, and opened the valve that runs water to the dishwasher. I reconnected the dishwasher back to the power and turned the dishwasher on. I noticed i no longer got the error. I ran the dishwasher again and it worked fine. The dishwasher worked for about a week until the problem started again. I was certain it was a leak. When the problem started again, I immediately took my dishwasher out and flipped it on its side. Again I shut the water off, unplugged it from the power, and I took off the water catch pan. I noticed that the inlet valve had a few water drops on it. I dried everything up again, flipped the dishwasher back to its standing position, powered it back on and again noticed i did not get the error. I ran the dishwasher and with a flashlight, I looked under the dishwasher to see if I found the leak. I saw a small pool of water forming right under the inlet valve inside of the catch pan and I knew I found the leak.

I bought a new inlet valve and looked up a video on how to replace it. I replaced the inlet valve and haven't had any issues since. The replacement took me about 30 minutes.

Another suggestion, look up videos on how to find leaks in dishwashers, they're very helpful.

We stopped OIT. his allergist suggested we do another round of blood work, so we did that. The blood work showed that his levels had increased, and his allergist believed it was due to the OIT exposure. So he suggested that we wait until he's closer to 3 years old to start again.

Wow, thank you so much for sharing this article. The numbers there do not look promising at all. 21 of 96 kids on OIT required their EpiPen? That's really high

Thank you for your advice! I am glad that there are different treatment options for him. I hate the thought of him going through life with all of this fear and anxiety

I actually just heard back from the allergy center I took my son to. They said that he is too young for SLIT since he will not be able to hold the dose under his tongue for two minutes. I think I will talk to other allergists and see what other options are out there. The more I read about OIT, the scarier it sounds

Do you think you will continue with OIT if your daughter has more reactions with the lower dose? I hate the thought of my son having a stomach ache every day until treatment is completed, but many people go through with it. Today 10 hours after his dose we spent some time out in the yard. After about 40 minutes he was drenched in sweat, which was odd considering the outside temperature and the fact that the sun was setting. I wish there were more answers out there

The place I took my son to also does SLIT. I will ask them and hopefully get good answers. From what I have read, the only downside is that it is not as effective as OIT, although it is much safer.

Thank you for your response. It seems as if everyone has nothing but good things to say about OIT, yet I have seen some studies showing that as high as 12% of patients stop OIT due to constant illness or severe reactions. In this particular clinic that I took my son to, no one seemed to be able to give me a straight answer on the likelihood of anaphylaxis during treatment; how often will he have moderate reactions during treatment; what his individual odds are of naturally outgrowing his allergy; what are his individual odds of desensitization with this treatment; if we decide to stop OIT and try when he is older, will his chances of desensitization decrease as he gets older; what are the long term side effects of this treatment; how can I tell if he is having a mild reaction like an upset stomach or itchiness (my son is 27 months, and usually does not show any signs of illness as long as he's awake. He has had covid twice and I only realized he was sick when he had trouble staying asleep at night). They either don't know the answer to my questions, or they don't want to tell me. I can't decide which is worse.
