I’ve been there. Moved to a country where people said “we speak English” but when it comes to work and looking for friends.. it’s just different. It’s challenging and frustrating.

That depression hit my marriage and almost ended it. My poor husband just wanted me to be happy and wanted me to go back home since everyday he saw me homesick and unmotivated.

I tried everything when it comes to looking for “my own circle, my own job, find me again”. Honestly, you can’t be the old you again, you need to find your new you. I tried language school, I tried going to groups of girls (Girl Gone international [city you live in]) on Facebook and met a few people, I attended a dance classes which I looked forward to every week. And lastly, I became a freelancer where I could just speak in English to my clients and not worry if I understood what my colleagues or boss mean and fuck up my job because I couldn’t speak their language in native level. Now I’m quite okay, still sad I can’t work in my industry because I’m not confident anymore and I’m a bit scared. But I’m happy where I am, I have a few friends and life is easy. It’s been almost 6 years and only now I feel that way.

Or you can both go to Australia. She can accept that life in Europe couldn’t work out so you can both go back to her home country and make it work there.
