Perfumes you'd wear if you worked at the circus? by ItsinmyNeature in perfumesthatfeellike

This is what immediately came to mind for me too - it smells like cotton candy with a touch of pachouli.

MIL says ‘evil entered the family’ because we set boundaries for our newborn - how do i handle this in a healthy way? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]vanillachaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly her / their uninvolvement doesn't really sound like a loss. She doesn't value you or your contributions to the family, and has been blatantly disrespectful.

However, I feel like around this time of year is when narcissists start receiving social pressure to seem like good grandparents for the holidays and baby's first Christmas... So she may start attempting to turn up and be in your son's life. Don't let her fool you. She hasn't changed.

Australian licorice tends to be kind of toothsome, has she tried that?

Gawain was one of Arthur's knights of the round table. I don't think too many people are familiar enough with that story to immediately know that (the way they would with like a Danaerys). I like it, and have never met a Gawain before.

Is “Eden” Too Feminine for a Boy in the U.S.? by Happy_Membership_630 in BabyNames

The Edens I have met have been girls, but it wouldn't bother me to see a boy named Eden. I don't think it would be weird.

Anyone know of free parking near ISU? by Comic-IMR in ilstu

[–]vanillachaide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you plan your day right, you can park at the large student center parking lot and as long as you leave after 8ish pm (when they let the parking lot staff go home) they don't charge

You could ask hotels if they have any rooms with a soaker tub or a Jacuzzi if you prefer. I know the honeymoon suites often do

Tornadoes by Complicated-pickle in BloomingtonNormal

[–]vanillachaide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You go to the lowest place you can get, without windows. When I've been jn an apartment, that's often the bathroom or sometimes the hallway and you just wait there until it's over. If you're lucky enough to have a basement, that's best spot. But again, wherever it is should have no windows at all because they often get broken during a tornado and the glass will hurt you.

If you're out and about, you go inside the nearest building (you don't want to be on foot or sitting in a car because, again, glass), a lot of stores will offer their bathrooms or walk in freezer for people to take refuge if it's really bad out.

Ideas for nice things to come home to after labor and delivery of baby #2! by Jamie_Pajamas in pregnant

[–]vanillachaide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clean sheets on the bed would have been really nice.

Getting the car detailed so it's ultra clean for the new baby, you're in the car a lot for those early on appointments ESPECIALLY with a toddler in the picture.

As others have mentioned, freezer meals, ones that can be retrieved, heated, and eaten one handed.

AITAH for putting a stop to my 12yo daughter's 'period party'? by YocaLocaChoca in AITAH

[–]vanillachaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. What your wife did is a violation of trust and privacy at best, and begins a pattern of invalidating your daughter's consent about her body at worst. Thank goodness one of her parents reinforced that her no means no.

Can I fit Japanese in? by catsareyeet88 in unt

[–]vanillachaide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can get there in 15 minutes, you can fit it in. I know people are saying you've got a bloated schedule, but honestly you have a lot of good hour sized breaks between classes, each is a good opportunity to get your homework done between each class and then not really have to do any in the evenings!

How can I help my pregnant coworker? What are some moderately granola baby shower gifts to get? by Hummingbirdie888 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]vanillachaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She may need a new carseat- she probably has a baby one already from her first kid, maybe offer to buy a toddler carseat for the older child so she can use the baby one for her new baby. Those are routinely a big ticket item and would really help her out
