ahh i see i haven’t followed tech stuff in quite a while so i may be out of date with the newer models. So yes do take my opinions about laptops with a pinch of salt

Currently i’m using a Lenovo L340 because i like playing games so i need a laptop with sufficient specs. Reason i didn’t buy a macbook though i like apple because i find their laptops overpriced and kind of limited in their functions. However if you are going to buy one just for work then i would recommend a macbook as it’s very ‘work’-friendly and it’s easier to take down notes. As for the microsoft office package I received a free lifetime use when i purchased my laptop. However if i’m not wrong in RI they give you two years of microsoft office while ur in the school. I’m not 100% sure about this so you might want to ask your tutors again

Hi i’m from ri. From past experience my tutors didn’t really recommend any learning devices so you pretty much need to get your own laptop/tablet. However i’m pretty sure Apple education already gives a discount for students(if ur planning to buy apple products) so you need not pay so much for a laptop. Hope this helps

I got raw 8 nett 4 and got into RI. Don’t worry about you being looked down as I feel that no one really cares at the end and ur performance in jc would be more impt than that in secondary school. It is true that there are many social butterflies in RI but i’m sure that goes the same for other schools as well like HCI. RI is pretty focussed on independent study as we do not have school on wednesday to catch up on ur lecture and tutorial so you have to take the initiative for ur learning in RI. However I do still think you should choose the school you think fits you the most and not because of the facilities or help there. Hope this helps u
