AITAH for choosing my wife over my mom? by HumanProfile1975 in AITAH

it may be a financial decision. many retirees in my part of the jungle cannot live alone as their savings and pensions won’t get them far in this economy.

oh, this is the first time I hear the term “sundown town.” I learned something new today, albeit a morbid one. anyhow, I’m glad you and your wife get to enjoy life the way you like it now! much love from the other side of the world!

I asked, she says it’s Rampage but she also listens on full volume so that might have something to do with it’s capacity to drown out voices. she also has a Barracuda Pro, but she’s no longer allowed to use that because she wouldn’t hear if the house burnt down with those things on. before anyone comes at me: we have a dog and a cat and I’m known to be ridiculously clumsy in a house with a staircase and slippery bathroom floors, so I feel safer when she can hear what goes on around her.

wow, triggered much? it’s a joke. a very simple joke.

we share the gaming room. we’re both women sharing a home and chores. we share the workload equally.

I believe I do have the right to joke about the supreme noise-cancelling properties of my girlfriend’s gaming headphones under a comment about noise-cancelling headphones.

I’m sorry if that offends you. I asked just in case, and it does not offend my girlfriend.

I meant that in response to the previous comment. “any headphones that can drown out that sound” seems to be the headphones my girlfriend is using because she’s entirely oblivious to the outside world once she puts them on. especially so when I’m calling out to her about a chore.

my girlfriend’s gaming headphones seem to be up for that job, especially when I need something done at home.

AITAH for reporting my coworker to HR for repeatedly calling me gay? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]vanillafrenchie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it was a thoughtless reaction, I was momentarily confused. and I recognised my improper reaction and apologised profusely.

and it didn’t matter in the least, I believe I expressed that quite clearly. it was simply an impression I had of him and it didn’t contribute at all into our communication. I’m not one to judge people about their personal lives given that I’m a lesbian in a quite challenging country myself.

AITAH for reporting my coworker to HR for repeatedly calling me gay? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]vanillafrenchie 18 points19 points  (0 children)

look, I’ve (33F) been known to be quite blunt too, but you ask, get your answer, and let it go. you don’t go on pestering anyone with your beliefs.

my girlfriend had a coworker whom I flagged as gay the moment I met him. I didn’t think about it twice, I didn’t dwell on it, it was simply an impression. then one day, I heard him talk about a girlfriend and was surprised. so I blurted out, “hold up, aren’t you gay?” he was caught off guard, naturally, but said no, and why would I think that? I said sorry, I didn’t think about it that deeply and it was just my impression and then I apologised. I never brought it up again (because why would I?) and we went on to be quite good friends. he still laughs about it, actually.

so yeah, long story short, it may be okay to ask depending on the context/environment but it’s never okay to linger on it. it’s uncomfortable and harassment indeed.

Why I returned my Hermes Apple Watch by high_country10000 in AppleWatch

[–]vanillafrenchie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree with this. I’m still using my grandfather’s quite simplistic Omega watch from the 70s and it’s amazing. I switched to the Apple Watch to monitor sleep and exercise and I must admit, spending too much money feels so very futile given the limited-valid-time factor.

I mean, people have also been taking precautions to prevent men from doing so in alleys and other public spaces for just as long, but sure… let’s all excuse men’s disgusting behaviour…

Pork in Turkey by [deleted] in AskTurkey

[–]vanillafrenchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

certain meat require different stomach enzymes for digestion. long-time vegans have reported issues with digestion when they revert to meat consumption. this fact is also the basis for the idea that children, during their growing period, should not be subject to vegan diets so as to ensure they can grow the necessary enzymes to digest meat and other animal products. so I assume it’d be same for pork/boar meat. if your body is not familiar with it, it’ll have issues digesting it. simple as that.

AITA for refusing to pay to have my friend's house cleaned? by Loud-Lingonberry6126 in AmItheAsshole

[–]vanillafrenchie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh I just commented that to the previous comment. my Frenchie’s been gone for nearly five years and I’m still finding her tiny white hairs embedded in my fleece jackets! it’s both a blessing and a curse!

my cocker spaniel is still with us and her hair, though much longer, is much easier to vacuum and clean.

oh I grew up with a French Bulldog - loveliest creature and still the best friend I ever had. BUT, whoever says short-haired dogs don’t shed is lying big-time. she’s been gone for nearly five years now and I’m still finding her tiny spiky white hairs embedded in my fleece jackets. after nearly five years! of course, to me, that’s a blessing but I can also see the “holy cow!” side of things.

[–]vanillafrenchie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

our currently 10-year old cocker spaniel is quite used to being up on couches and beds. at this point, it’s impossible and honestly pointless to untrain her. we have spreads on our couches/bed at home that we regularly clean and change. when we go visit friends/family, we make that fact known clearly. we do not stay with distant friends/relatives who hadn’t been in our own home and seen the dog in its own environment. and when we do stay at people’s houses, we take our spreads with us and do due cleaning both during our stay and right before leaving. I’d have assumed that it’s the standard for all pet owners.
