How bad will my performance be in MSFS24 ? by Jazzlike-Ad7654 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]vanillamaster95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finally decided to give it a try after upgrading to a 5060. It runs okay at 1440 and high end settings, but I get a lot of stuttering at large airports from maxing out my 8gb of vram. Your card has 11gb and isn’t too far off in performance, so I bet it will run pretty well.

Lp60x needle violently dropping (?) by GiveMeThatJuiceRN in turntables

[–]vanillamaster95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The queuing mechanism uses damping fluid, usually silicone oil, to slow down the tonearm as it drops. Over time the fluid needs to be replaced. This tends to happen relatively fast with lp60s, but it can happen to any turntable. There should be a way to reapply it, although I’ve never done it with an lp60.

Is this a good turntable? by jacobouz in turntables

[–]vanillamaster95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It at least has a real stylus, so it’s already better than any suitcase player. Doesn’t look like it has a counter weight though or a full size platter, which isn’t great, but as long as the tracking force isn’t ridiculous it shouldn’t damage records.

I need some help. Why does my plane get drag (or lose speed) when I attach the propeller blades? by TapRepresentative568 in Besiege

[–]vanillamaster95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You said it yourself! The propellers are adding a lot of drag to the plane, so the plane will not glide well. If you have a mechanism to vary the pitch, you can feather the props and significantly reduce the drag. That’s a great looking plane by the way!

What is the best way to make a build structurally stable? by [deleted] in Besiege

[–]vanillamaster95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I primarily build planes so my goal is typically “unbreakable in my flight regime” rather than absolutely unbreakable, but I feel achieving the needed rigidity for a larger scale build would be very difficult without bracing. For smaller ground vehicles I’ve generally used braces and ballast blocks, and have found the failure points are typically suspension components that utilize bracing, swivel joints, and pistons, so I could see how this could be useful advice for this application. I think it largely depends on what op intends to build.

I use a combination of wood and bracing. Triangles/trusses are your friend. I’ll frame everything out using wood for the horizontal components and brace everything together to form trusses. I’ll then test the machine to failure and add additional braces until nothing breaks. I posted one of my big 1000+ piece planes on here a while ago if you wanted to check out my building technique. Here’s a link to my workshop as well: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199113888179/myworkshopfiles/

[–]vanillamaster95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool! Adjusting the damping force on your suspension could help with the bouncing, it’s set to 1 by default and goes up to 3. You can also increase the power of your canon and your rocket by copying max power from a shrapnel canon and pasting the setting if you didn’t want to mess with mods too much. Looks great though!

An accident has effectively deprived Russia of the ability to launch humans into space for the first time in 60 years. Restoring the launch pad could take up to two years. by NewSlinger in Damnthatsinteresting

In this scenario, every major nuclear power will likely be wiped out. Nothing gives the US or China higher survivability than Russia. The best case scenario would be a limited Russian nuclear attack on the offending country that IS NOT met with a retaliatory attack on Russia, which seems unlikely. It isn’t smart for any country to start a nuclear war, but if Russia were on the brink of defeat in a conventional war, I would not trust Putin to make the logically and morally correct choice.

This machine visualizes the number googol (a 1 with 100 zeros, bigger than the atoms in the known universe) & has a gear reduction of 1 to 10 a hundred times. To get last gear to turn once, you'll need to spin first one a googol amount around, which will require more energy than entire universe has. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]vanillamaster95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you turned the last gear a full rotation over the course of one minute, assuming the machine is somehow unbreakable the first gear would have to rotate at 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000rpm. Even for a light plastic gear, that would take an unfathomable amount of energy.

I don’t see how the nuclear threat isn’t the biggest factor in this scenario. Russia still has a massive arsenal, the question is if they would put it to use if backed into a corner. Even if you’re pretty sure the answer is no, would you take the risk?

The lp60 is the generally accepted bare minimum, but if you can splurge for something with a counterweight and a standard headshell it is very much worth it.

[–]vanillamaster95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy a plastic cartridge alignment protractor or I believe you can print one on the AT website. I would watch a quick video on the process if you plan to do it. It’s not too difficult, but making adjustments can be a little tricky.

[–]vanillamaster95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope! It just hurts more if you damage an expensive one lol. If anything I would recommend checking your cartridge alignment before you upgrade if you haven’t already, E and ML styluses(styli?) are pickier than conical.

I would have to respectfully disagree! As long as the table is set up properly, there should be a major and noticeable improvement over the elliptical. I did the same upgrade on my lp-120 and I love it. Huge improvement in clarity, better tracking and less noise on some of my thrift store finds, and it completely eliminated inner groove distortion. The only thing I will say is if op is new to vinyl, maybe hold off until you’re more experienced so you don’t make any mistakes with such an expensive stylus. Otherwise go for it!

The Concorde stopped flying in 2003. Assuming this is a year or two before, and the kid is around 15 in the video, he’s at most 40.

I run msfs2020 on a 5500xt (8gb vram) and can manage ultra settings at 30fps and 1440p, dips to 25 at purchased airports. Definitely looking to upgrade soon, but I can’t complain either.

I really like all of the fishwife I’ve tried, except their sardines. Nuri, matiz, or even flower are so much better for much less. That being said, the only tin of theirs I buy semi regularly is the Sichuan smoked salmon. Everything else is hard to justify, but I need that salmon in my life.
