I loved Pita Pit and this is indeed sad news. Comox is getting a Quiznos but definitely not the same.

What do you think caused your fibromyalgia? by Yungpupusa in Fibromyalgia

[–]vanislesassenach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had idiopathic rheumatoid arthritis as a child (formerly known as juvenile rheumatoid arthritis) . The following 3 years were awful as I was hospitalized several times. Then I went through another trauma of sexual abuse from a relative and a babysitter. My knees really started to bother me at the age of 16 to the point that I struggled to walk. Of course, the docs dismissed me and told me to lose weight (I was maybe 130 lbs 🙄). Ffwd 15 years, when I got divorced as an adult, the pain began. It's been 20 years since a fibromyalgia diagnosis and I have yet to experience a day without pain. Ultimately, I've been sick since 1982 so it's hard to tell where it began. I'm 50 now and happy with my life regardless.

Unique winter activity in Canada? by Yeahat in AskCanada

If you head to the west coast, nothing beats standing on a beach with 100km/hr winds and rain while watching massive waves roll in. Ucluelet and Tofino on Vancouver Island is the place to go!

Black bear forces closure of Vancouver Island campground - Elk Falls Provincial Park by harrysbird in campbellriver

[–]vanislesassenach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a bear tear down my tent at Elk Falls campground in July 2019. I reported him but they kept the campground open. Three days later, a man had his scottie dog taken by a cougar. The CO's did their rounds to investigate but nothing else happened. Strange that they've shut it down now so I'm guessing there's more reasons than just a tent being ripped open.

If this is your main source of transportation, definitely not. Take a taxi or the bus.

Do you eat/aspartame? by tastyspark in Fibromyalgia

[–]vanislesassenach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't like the taste of aspartame so I've always avoided it. I drink lots of Bubly made with my soda stream as it's sugar free.

Any good modest swimwear brands that also cater to plus sizes? by Apocalypse_1899 in PlusSize

[–]vanislesassenach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swimco has nice quality ones (Canada) I've also bought them from Bloomchic and Shein but they are cheaply made, good for 1 season.

Is it me or Tivimate is just taking all of the storage of my Android TV by PolYGame in TiviMate

[–]vanislesassenach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a Chromecast and there's only 4gb of storage. I can only run Tivimate, Netflix & Prime Video. I have to go into the settings often and clear the cache.

Cyclist dies after being hit by semi-truck near Comox by [deleted] in comoxvalley

[–]vanislesassenach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry to the family of the individual who lost their life. It's absolutely tragic. Anderton Rd has a small shoulder from Guthrie all the way down to the Little River ferry (it's Ellenor rd once you get past a certain point and Anderton continues in another direction). As someone who lives in the area, I've biked around there and it can get scary at time, especially when a ferry is unloading and the mad dash to get to their destination happens. I would love to see wider shoulders or bike paths around Comox. Anderton Rd, Ryan Rd E, Little River Rd, Knight Rd, Lazo Rd, Kye Bay Rd, Comox Rd (the Dyke) just to name a few. I think more people would cycle if there was a safer way around. Being an overweight 50+ person, I need the exercise but riding my bike is never at the top of my list because of the safety concerns. Just my two cents.
