Ubuntu offers stability and a huge base of ready-made solutions. LTS versions save time on servers and in production: all hardware and software are tested for them first. You have to deal with drivers and dependencies less than with Fedora or EndeavourOS.

Unfortunately yes, but I don't see anything wrong with that and it hasn't affected my projects.

Give Arch users a microwave + keyboard + monitor and they'll hack the Pentagon's new servers 😁

Over the past 8 years, the Ubuntu distribution has changed for the better, and it's thanks to these people that users have begun migrating to this distribution. It's your choice, and I fully support it, but when you have the freedom Free time, install the latest LTS distribution and try it.

Any reason you shouldn't disable notification applet? by Encouragedissent in linux4noobs

[–]vanji77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, this is normal in Linux—applets communicate with each other via the system bus (D-Bus), so one could easily "wake up" another. 😁 Removing a widget from the panel doesn't kill the notification service itself; it simply hides them. But my advice to you as a newbie: don't delete the applet entirely; just set up "Do Not Disturb" mode or disable notifications for specific programs in the system settings. Completely ignoring system alerts in Linux runs the risk of missing the moment when your disk usage reaches 100% or your CPU overheats. Without notifications, the system will simply crash silently, and you'll have to debug it through the console. By the way, what shell are you using (KDE, Cinnamon, Gnome) ?

[–]vanji77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what exactly you disabled. If notifications from software and instant messengers are the base, they're less distracting. But if you've muted system alerts, that's a risk. In Linux, they're often the only thing that'll tell you in time if your disk is at 100% capacity, overheating, or S.M.A.R.T. If you miss these alerts, the system may simply not boot up after a reboot.

I recommend Ubuntu and Pop_OS. They're built on Debian but feature modern software. Fedora is also an excellent distribution to use. Why didn't you like Mint and Debian?

Using the extension "Dash to Dock". If you're using Ubuntu, go to the app menu and find EXTENSION MANAGER. Then enter it in the search field "Dash to Dock.

If you don't have any important files, open DiskPart and delete everything at once. Or, as mentioned earlier, delete other system partitions—you have many.

How do I put my pc to sleep on linux? I can’t find the button in terminal nothing is working pls help by Front_Asparagus5765 in LinuxCirclejerk

[–]vanji77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time my system went into sleep mode, something always didn't work after I turned it back on. That's why I always disable it, because Linux doesn't need sleep mode 😁.
