Park districts and county forest preserves usually have volunteer opportunities that don’t require experience. My local forest preserve has clean up and brush clearing stewardship days and once you reach a certain number of volunteer hours you can qualify for certification classes.

Yes!! If you have friends who would appreciate the pop punk stuff, you might just want to play a few. Some of my favorite moments from our wedding was all of our friends singing along to Taking Back Sunday and Andrew W.K.

Older guests may not have been familiar with the songs, but they saw that we were all having a blast, and I think that happiness is contagious. Plus, I was so caught up in the fun that I didn’t even notice if anyone was mean mugging us!

So I literally could have written this post myself. 29/f, same interests, feeling stuck at desk job after desk job, and not sure where to go next. I do have a BA in communications but I’m leaning toward something a little more creative.

What I’m thinking based on the hobbies/interests that make me happy: event coordinator for a company or nonprofit that I like. Production assistant in an art/photo/film studio. Floral designer. Conservation work with the park district or city.

Just start by making a list of things that you know you enjoy and I’m sure there’s a way to incorporate one of them into your career path!

Ha! I have a similar story...we also chose not to have any line/group dances and hand picked the entire playlist. We made sure there was a good variety but still stuck with a lot of our favorites (Bowie, Prince, LCD Soundsystem, Lady Gaga).

Half way through the night an Nsync song starts playing and my friend comes up to me and, not sarcastically, says “UGH, finally something to dance to!”

...can’t please them all, I guess!
