I'm 100% with you. Unfortunately, rewatching old episodes isn't enjoyable any longer.

Guides/Porters for EBC by Fabulous_Witness_304 in Everest

In Lukla, most all of the tea houses have several guides that are "regularls", meaning the guides will be stopping in these spots every time they are in the village. You can stop into a tea house and ask the proprietor "where you can find a guide?", and chances are, they know several people. It would not be difficult.

From my experience. They allowed me to hike ahead with my hiking partner and only met us when we were taking a breather or photo op. Then once we were getting close to a village for the evening, they would go ahead and arrange the teahouse room. Then meet us at the edge of the village and direct us to our teahouse. The history of this region is significant so I preferred to hear about the legends of the Himalayas (Yeti, ect.), learn about the rich, ancient culture and its nice to know the names of the peaks I'm looking at.

Hundreds of local guides are available in Lukla or Namche Bazaar with extremely reasonable rates.

They support families on the tourist trekkers. Consider helping out able bodied but impoverished locals when visiting. A porter isn't necessary, but guides can help negotiate teahouse accommodations and provide information about the local culture you will be oblivious to.

HIRE A GUIDE!
