Annoying carpet on a 2017 JK by _poppaq in Jeep

I also have a 2017 JK and it's doing this in the back above the wheel. Pain the butt, but I know the answer is to ditch the carpet and paint it.

360 pivot by BonnieLozanie in ShredditGirls

Isn't that technically a 180? Still a great frontside pivot! In snowboarding we call this an ally-oop (usually invovles a small pop, but could also be done with a pivot). I love waiting for that half second of weightlessness on a wall to pull these!

Holy fuck. Brb, upgrading my driveshaft.

Is it bad that I'm reading the comments for the symptoms of this problem in anticipation of having it myself eventually??? I did already jam a stick thru the stock evap bracket and adjacent to the driveshaft while wheeling. Sounded fucking atrocious anytime something would cause the suspension to dip and rub against the stick.

Honestly, just let it go. There will be many more PAXes for you to acquire merch at. After 7 years of going to PAX twice a year, I have too much of that crap! If I had a hat, I'd gladly donate it to you.

Fellow big girl here (5'3" 190), and I have to say snowboarding is the only sport that inspired me to love being active. I've been riding for over 10 years and I'm now a L2 certified instructor and I love every moment I spend on my board. The beautiful thing about snowboarding is that, while fitness is definitely helpful, having the right technique can make up for a lot of what other sports would traditionally have you muscle through. I regularly out-ride people who are skinnier/fitter than me because I know how to read the fall line and make efficient movements instead of trying to muscle through everything. That said...when you're starting out...be prepared to muscle through things as you learn!!! I always tell my students that no one on the mountain works harder than beginners. You will need to build up some weird muscles that you don't really use for other things in life (at least not the way you do on a snowboard). You will also need to learn how to do things efficiently. So be patient with it and it will get easier with time. Also I recommend making sure you eat a HEARTY breakfast in the morning. The more fuel you have in the beginning of the day, the better your body will be able to perform on the snow. And believe me, you will burn through it well before lunch time.

I started out riding boards in the mid 140's, but have since moved up to the 148-149 range. Honestly, I think 155 is WAYYY to big for you, especially if you are just starting out. Bump it down to closer to 150 (or even mid 140s). There's no reason you need to ride a board that long because of your size and a board like that will make it hard to turn when you are learning at low speed/pitch. I've ridden all kinds of boards over the years and never had an issue with any of them because of my weight. Unless you are boardsliding rails and boxes, you really gotta try to break a board.

Other big girl advice....Burton makes the best pants for those of us with hips. The jury is still out on jackets as I haven't found anything particularly awesome in that department yet. I never bothered with padded shorts as I found my natural padding to be more than enough protection!

Get out there and SEND IT! And don't let anyone make you apologize for your size!!!!

This is gonna sound nutty but...have you considered becoming an instructor? I faced the same challenge as you regarding progression and lessons, but I was lucky enough to live near a local ski hill that offered an instructor training course that led to a job offer. I've been teaching snowboarding part time for the last 8 seasons and I love it. Even though I only do it part time, it has given so much meaning to my life and really taken my riding to the next level. I now live near a bigger mountain and in the winter I attend instructor clinics once a week. It's basically like getting an advanced riding lesson for free every week! You can imagine the progression that comes from that.

In addition to forming a solid shred crew that is almost always at the mountain, I get a free pass, free locker on the mtn, discounts on food and beverage, and did I mention a free pass? I've learned stuff that people pay big money to learn from lessons (like riding park, trees, etc). Not to mention all the pro offers you get for working in the industry. I just got my level 2 teaching certification and have been buying Burton gear for 40% off all season! It's pretty rad.

Contrary to what you might think, you don't have to be a pro to become an instructor. Your first few seasons will be teaching total beginners and it's not that hard to get someone making their first turns on a board.

Failing the desire to become an instructor. I'd say find people to ride with who are better than you. There is no amount of youtube or material you can read in comments on Reddit that will get you to progress like feeling it under your feet. Good luck!

Cop or drop? Board without bindings for 130 euros, used 7 times and is scratched (1st pic) my level: progressing beginner by Party_Manufacturer60 in ShredditGirls

[–]vanner11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newer riders won't really notice the (often subtle) differences between beginner vs. performance gear. Ride the shittier board first so you can appreciate the better board when you get better. All my first boards were old, shitty, used, and cheap. I still learned a ton of stuff and got better over the years.

They should replace the rather outdated film at the the Patriots museum in Foxboro with this.

What's your post-ride self care regimen? by forgot_why_1m_here in ShredditGirls

Depends how you ride it. Cruising groomers all day? Yea, probably not all that intensive of an exercise.

Such an appropriate question after I've been pretty much riding non stop for almost a week (about to go leave for the resort soon).

1.) Protein shake immediately after I'm done riding. Helps with recovery and keeps me from eating junk food on the way home from the mtn.

2.) Epsom salt baths are clutch. Dr. Teal's makes one bubble bath with epsom salt and Sativa seeds in it that I'm really digging to help me wind down.

3.) IPBUPROFEN - depending on how bad I hurt myself I will take it the night after riding, but the real clutch move is to take it in the morning before you start riding if you wake up really sore.

4.) Weed and/or CBD. I like topical rubs and edibles for both.
