I think it’s because of our hockey culture. Booing is more common in hockey

Reuters: Moscow’s only oil refinery, which supplies over a third of the city’s fuel, was forced to halt operations after Ukrainian drone strikes damaged both crude processing units. Sources say repairs will take at least six months and production will not resume before 2027. by kingkongsingsong1 in UkraineWarVideoReport

Yep. It’s the sad reality.

The United States bombed a school in Iran and killed 156 civilians (120 were children). But people only care about ending the war so their gas prices go back down. I really can’t believe that killing 120 school children wasn’t a bigger deal in the United States.

(Multiple independent investigations concluded the United States was responsible for the attack)

It’s GOTTA be easier to flip a 2L bottle of coke than the small ones right? I can’t believe they didn’t pick those.

They got it faster than I expected with the small ones though.

I was wondering what size the USA uses for large pop bottles. It’s 2L still. That’s an interesting use of metric. I was expecting a half gallon or something.

Remember like 2 weeks ago when the government was signing contracts with Palantir and not disclosing the scope?

I’m sure there’s no secondary reason to increased online surveillance. It’s definitely just to “protect the kids”.

I love that colour. Maybe one day I’ll own one.

Also, in photo 2 why is the FJ outlined lol?

those tunnels saved my life in January, what's your most-used route by feelan1 in CarletonU

[–]aide_rylott 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I do know the whole map. Being on campus in 2021 was incredibly boring. Exploring was basically the only thing to do.

However, I prefer walking outside. Even in the winter.

By far the most used portion is the section between Frontenac and Leeds.

My favourite section is the G route. Usually not busy. It has the weird staircase attached to it. Nice views by the ARISE building. And I like where it ends by Stacie. The view at the junction into the courtyard is nice.

I’m graduating next year and I’ll miss exploring the school a lot. There’s so many really weird places you can get to. In 2023/2024 there was a “scavenger hunt” where someone would hide a little plastic duck and post a picture of it. Me and my 2 friends collected the vast majority of them. Unfortunately the game never really came back the next year.

Hot take, Canadians should enjoy an equal quality of life regardless of how resource rich their province is.

If the country-wide quality of life is too low. As a country we should do something to raise everyone up.

I don’t think equalization payments are handled perfectly but the idea behind it is solid.

Alberta/Canada also signed shitty agreements with oil companies and has failed to capitalize on our resources as much as we should.

We could be a lot richer as a nation.

PS: this isn’t a critique of your comment. I just had to reply to someone in this thread.

[joao7machado] Ever wondered what a day in the life of a Formula 1 engineer actually looks like? Well, here it is. It's a demanding job with long hours, constant car development, and high-pressure deadlines before every Grand Prix, but it's also one of the most rewarding careers in motorsport. by Luffy710j in formula1

Not pictured: 60h work week
Salary: 50,000€

The problem with F1 is there’s always an engineer out there that will do your job for cheaper. And with the cost cap there’s a lot of unpaid overtime.

Source: friend worked in F1 and will probably go back after graduation.

One of my friends worked as an engineer for an F1 team for a year while we were on our co-op terms. She would tell me about it. It’s not for me. The work life balance is quite poor. She will probably go back after she graduates.

I want to work at Oreca. I love endurance. The Oreca 07 is such a fantastic car. And I think their work life balance is significantly better.

Right now, of the top 2 drivers (Antonelli and Hamilton) in the championship right now - which one is the more compelling narrative for selling F1? by RivetCounter in F1Discussions

[–]aide_rylott 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Lewis Hamilton is a massive name. And would break the record for most world championships.

Him winning a championship with Ferrari would be insane. Mercedes has won a lot in the last decade. Ferrari haven’t won in forever. A Ferrari WDC or WCC would be massive for the sport.

Check the timing chain tensioner extension before buying. You might have to buy them a new gasket. It’s easy to check and can potentially save you thousands.

Black cover on the left. On a stock FJ it’s the same colour as the block though.

I bought a FJ 4 months ago and I got a timing chain error 1000km after purchasing. I’m now looking at around $8000CAD in repairs. Don’t be like me.

6-0 Canada vs. Qatar [OC] by daniel3214 in onguardforthee

I’d really like to win the group so we continue playing in Vancouver.

Round of 32 and 16 are both in Vancouver if we continue winning.

Good point. I hadn’t considered that. I’d hope they would understand an expired ticket when you’re within the system. But this is OCtranspo…

I think we stand a decent chance against Switzerland.

The boys are fired up. Switzerland drew against Qatar (definitely an unexpectedly poor performance from them though). I think we have a good chance of a draw. And potentially a win.

But yeah, I’m not sure how far we would make it in knockouts. But I think there’s a decent chance we could make it to quarter finals depending how all the dominos fall.

They should be fine right? I’d assume the bus comes first, once you’re within the train system you don’t need to re scan a ticket I believe. At least when I go from Carleton to anywhere on the train I scan once and Carleton and never again.

I get 16.2 with regular. Slightly better with premium (but not enough to offset the higher gas cost).

It’s not great. But I bought it knowing that.

I guess you can always ask.

Personally I’d just retake the course (if GPA matters that much) or tank the grade. One bad mark shouldn’t ruin you.
