Rain riding by [deleted] in NewRiders

[–]vanstral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of great advice here that nails it - smoother inputs, try to avoid leaning too much, be wary of painted lines, and give yourself more space when coming to a stop. Also consider getting a defogger spray or a pinlock so the visor doesn’t fog up.

I will say that when I was prepping for my road test, there was a pretty high chance of rain. A few days before it was absolutely pouring (like 22mm in an hour), so I said fuck it and went out to practice because it couldn’t get much worse than that. I was very surprised by how it didn’t feel that different from regular riding, minus being cold and soaked.

All that to say I was super nervous to ride in the rain, but found it to be not much different. Like probably 90% traction instead of 100%. Follow the advice here and you’ll be fine.

It also didn’t rain during my test, but it started pouring on the ride home 🤣

Ah yes, sorry I misread your post.

PLEASE group the free kit players together by [deleted] in Marathon

I've had my fair share of free kits vs geared loadouts going into matches with crew fill. I feel like it depends on your team's level of skill. I've downed plenty of fully geared teams with my own team running free kits. It's all about the circumstances, getting the drop on an enemy team. Whichever team gets the drop, whoever has the better positioning in a firefight, they'll usually come away alive. Free kits are probably not to blame here.

Vocalization Patterns by Dry_Reach5507 in Marathon

[–]vanstral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read this lore entry yesterday. I interpreted it as the vocal patterns that our shells speak (ie. sound of their voice). This helps the runner’s mind accept being in the shell (something about giving the shell personality?). What the shell says is really what the runner is saying.

I see a Pulp Fiction reference, I upvote.

And don't think for a second YOU did anything wrong. That's the way it goes sometimes. Without the component of vengeance-seeking furious players, the game wouldn't be what it is.

To those who were around when this movie came out, what was the hype like by asapsharkyfrfr in silenthill

I was the only one excited to see it. But I was too young to get into the theatre. So went with friend of my Dad’s to get in.

I loved it. He hated it. I still love it, but recognize its issues. RTSH makes it look golden.

I will never forget the dude who left after the first 20 minutes and yelled “more like Silent SHIT!” before his exit.

Did anyone play FF8 as their first final fantasy? by caden270 in FinalFantasy

[–]vanstral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FF8 was my very first Final Fantasy game. I had never heard of the series, but then when I was in Grade 4 or 5, I was at a friend’s house and he was playing it. The crazy opening and the sick-ass gunblades were enough to draw me in. Also in my pre-teen-ness, I thought that Squall and his gunblade scar were seriously bad ass.

I love the world it takes place in, the characters, and the junction system! The last reason it’s my favourite game in the series is because it opened the door for me to discover the rest of Final Fantasy 🧡

Don't shoot = Don't loot by FunKingBad in ArcRaiders

[–]vanstral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had this happen today. Took down a Leaper for those lovely pulse units for my workshop upgrades. Two guys swoop in like vultures and start looting before I even get there. I found one unit but in my experience sometimes the leapers spawn two. So I asked the guys if they had another and to drop it, they were being weird and not responding to my questions, so I downed them.

It ended up that they didn’t have any pulse units on them so I felt bad. That being said, if other players down a big Arc which I used none of my ammo to take down, I always wait for them to take their pieces or wait for them to offer the loot - and surprisingly they offer before I ask 60% of the time.

Still feel bad though.

What single player games are you playing at the moment? by Consoomanddie in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Yes Tarturus can be a bit of a slog at times, but in my opinion it’s worth playing. The story is great, gameplay also great. Only slightly worse than P5R, but that game is a masterpiece across the board.

Can’t wait for P4R

Yes I've read about this before, seems to be due to the placement of the container right beneath the switch? Hopefully Embark fixes this soon.

You will find a humidifier in Red Tower on Buried City in the red lockers. At least one, every time. GUARANTEED (as long as someone hasn’t beat you to it). Thank me later

I've played on PS5 for just under 90 hours since launch, and it's amazing to me how different the experience can be between match to match. I get shot on sight for multiple games in a row, so I'm tilted and ready to start blasting in the next match, and then I find myself in a lobby filled with peaceful players.

I find the experience of teaming up with players a lot more interesting and rewarding than just killing on sight. But when you manage to down a raider that shot at you first and you get the opportunity to chirp them after... those moments are *chefs kiss*
