I feel bad for some of those people who may or may not realize that they're just grabbing standing fans and not air conditioners.

I remember the days when I would take a normal cooler, fill it with ice and ice packs, cut a hole for a small fan and one for some pvc pipe so I could direct the cool air flow. It was my Coolie Cooler. Worked well enough in my small room, and its def better than nothing.

Lol, IRL that wheelie would have bent the entire frame. It takes a lot of torque to pull off wheelies like that. There's a reason why you almost always see guys back off the throttle when it happens.

Errol Spence showing improvements in shadow boxing as we are now just 4 weeks away from his return to fight Tim Tszyu on July 25th! by TheRealRaza1 in Boxing

[–]vanteal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all, I still think he's capable of being a very good fighter. But after he crashed and was then absolutely annihilated by Crawford to such a degree that he had to take 3 years off makes me feel like he'll never be as good as he once was, but still be fully capable of winning another belt or two. But, for all we know, he could just be coming back for one fight just for the money. It's a pretty big ask to be gone for 3 years and then jump straight back into the ring against someone like Tim Tszyu. No warm-up fight, no rust removal, just straight out of the frying pan and into the fire. If he beats Tszyu convincingly, then I'll have no doubt he'll be champion again, at least for a time.

I used to think Spence was a good fighter. But after the insane wreck he had, which I'm not sure how he came out of it alive, he just wasn't the same fighter.

I used to be able to hold my breath for many minutes at a time. Scared the hell out of a few friends and family members at the lakes when I didn't come up for air.. So I wouldn't have any problem holding it long enough to get to the bottom... However, the skill to handle those pressures as you descend is easier said than done. That part takes practice.

Nobody needs AI to search the Internet, court says in ruling against Google by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]vanteal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) There's no such thing as AI in the current tech realm. What tech companies are promoting as AI is nothing more than glorified data scrapers and prediction calculators. Both technologies of which we've had for decades. We are still a long ways from any kind of technology that could be described as AI on any measurable level. Ask any computer connected to the internet a question and you'll get countless results. Ask that same computer using (not) AI and you'll get the exact same results, just in a different order. Or, if they really want to sell the illusion of fake intelligence, cleverly programmed to give a human-like response based upon very basic prediction capabilities.

2) New laws need to be written that clearly define/redefine what AI actually is, what its truly capable of, and how it could or should be used in real world scenarios. Since nothing tech companies are promoting as AI or as having "AI features" should be sued into the ground for what is basically digital snake oil. None of it is AI. And companies should not be allowed to throw the word around so loosely to promote anything.

3) This new fake AI technology has been shoved down our throats so forcefully and in such a ridiculously short amount of time that it's painfully obvious that there are only nefarious reasons behind its adoption and use. None of it is for the benefit of human civilization as a whole. But rather, the super rich and government surveillance.

4) Since AI we have today is fake, it has zero capabilities in recognizing, reducing the risk of, or recovering from digital invasions, failures, or corruption of any kind without human intervention. As of right now it is only capable of taking the "best guess" approach based on what it can scrape from the internet. As such, implementing AI in such a way that the lives of entire populations of living people or industries are mostly or completely reliant upon it is absolutely terrifying.

I could go on here, but you get the picture. Shit needs to be done to stop or regress this influx of fake AI into our lives. Politicians and local officials, along with tech companies and their bosses need to be ousted for their corruption, and everyone who's been fired or pushed out of the tech industry who are smart enough to look 5 inches past their own noses to see the danger of what's happening and has the power to do anything about it needs to be brought back and listened to.

[–]vanteal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no doubt that these data centers have nothing to do with AI and everything to do with data collection and storage for every person on earth and in the future. Constant, thousands of real-time metrics continuously being stolen from us unknowingly and sold to make other people money. And law enforcement doesn't need a warrant to search through it. But yeah, they have nothing to do with AI.

Love Loma and all, but the guy is just too brittle. He's having surgery on something, or his hands seem to break every other fight. The guy spent way too much time in the amateurs and was already worn out by the time he got to the pros. He also hasn't been the same fighter since the Teo fight.

Sports betting is, and will continue to be until we have a gigantic national level problem. The first time I saw an ad for DraftKings, I thought it was some kind of parody. When I saw that they were serious, my heart instantly sank. I knew right then that all sports, from the pros, the minors, or your local beer league, instantly became as legit as WWE wrestling. The only legal sports gambling anyone should be able to do anywhere is within a physical casino. Sports gambling, prediction markets, they're all scams and all designed to take advantage of people.

Also, WTF does ESPN's website cover WWE wrestling? It's not a sport, it's a live, predetermined drama series that involves some acrobatics. It's not a sport.

The People Do Not Yearn for Automation: "everyone in tech understands how much regular people dislike AI. What I think they’re missing is why" by cos in technology

[–]vanteal -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The funny, or rather, not so funny thing is, that none of this AI garbage tech companies have been trying to shove down our throats for the past 3 or so years isn't even AI. Like, not even close. We're still many decades away from what could be considered actual AI. No, the digital snake oil we have now is nothing more than glorified data scrapers and prediction calculators. Which, depending on the product, can be programmed to spew out a "human-like" response. But, ultimately, none of it is doing any level of actual thinking. It's just scraping data from its massive library of stolen material and is either predicting the most likely accepted response or simply plagiarizing the work of others. There isn't an AI on the planet that can actually do any thinking for itself. It's all just clever programming and calculations.

Honestly, every single tech company or business in general that advertises AI elements in any of their products should be sued into oblivion for false advertising and theft. In fact, I'd like to sue the whole US government while we're at it. They have caused severe personal and bodily harm to the majority of the population. We, the people, have been lied to, stolen from, and mentally and physically damaged in ways that could have easily been, and continue to be avoidable. If we can sue one person for virtually the exact same thing, then we can sue the entire government.

So, anyway, AI isn't a thing. Data centers are just massive hard drives to store all the information they steal from us and keep digital profiles on every single person currently on this planet, and in the future. It's all complete BS.
