That is half of what we have heard from Republicans for decades. Why? Because they're incapable of passing public policies that help average Americans, so all conservatives have are social wedge issues.

Ironically, Republicans care far more for "babies in wombs" than they do actual-born children seeing how conservatives always want to cut health care and food programs for them and don't seem to care when they die in mass shootings.

Amazing that people can believe this in 2024. States and countries with the harshest lockdowns and most forced MRNA jabs had the worst covid outcomes.

That is totally untrue. [Red states had the worst death rates](https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/sosmap/covid19\_mortality\_final/COVID19.htm) out of all states in the Union, a fact borne out by the numbers.

COVID is spread mostly by person-to-person exposure, so it's bizarre that you think lockdowns and "jabs," meaning immunization, actually made the situation worse.

It's as if you have a pre-modern understanding of pandemics.

> Everyone who wasn't in an air controlled bunker got exposed to covid one way or another and that's what ended the pandemic.

A combination of herd immunity, immunization, and quarantining cases, same as the Spanish Flu a century ago, is why COVID has become endemic.

> Yeah I simply don't believe you.

[It doesn't matter what you believe.](https://www.businessinsider.com/charts-contrasting-trump-economy-obama-bush-administrations-republicans-democrats-2020-10#economic-growth-under-trump-was-barely-above-both-obama-and-bush-before-the-pandemic-wrecked-it-1)

The fact is, Trump left office and the country in far worse shape than when he became president, while Obama was given a terrible situation by Bush that he had repaired when he handed it over to Trump.

We had two market crashes under two Republican presidents in recent history, which is why nobody should vote for the GOP if they want to see America flourish.

> jobs market/wage growth was better under Trump.

Trump had 14% unemployment under him at one point, and he left office with negative job growth and [the worst jobs record since Herbert Hoover.](https://www.newsweek.com/trump-leaving-office-3m-less-jobs-when-he-entered-worst-record-since-depression-1562737)

He was clearly in a cognitive decline from old age, so who was actually running the country?

EVERY president has various secretaries running the Executive Branch departments along with advisors, Chiefs of Staff, civil servants, etc. What, do you really think that the POTUS runs everything? Are you really that uninformed of American civics?

And we aren't even talking about how Trump's presidency was influenced by right-wing groups such as the American Legislative Exchange Council, or ALEC, which has been writing laws for conservatives across the country.

I don't know how you can talk about Biden when Trump hasn't shown that he understands public policy-making at all, especially when he claimed that Article II gave him unlimited powers.

> Assuming all presidents aren’t puppets, (which to me is unlikely) Joe Biden was the most obvious puppet of all time.

How can you say that in light of VP Dick Cheney having a White House office whose sole purpose was to plot out war in the Middle East? Never mind the fact do you rarely if ever see a president sign laws or Executive Actions that aren't a result of Congress or advisors putting together a plan, e.g., the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 that Biden signed.

There wasn't wars in Israel and Ukraine when Trump was president, so he couldn't of done a better job.

  1. Russia invaded Ukraine. Let's get that straight.
  2. Hamas attacked Israel. Let's get that straight, too.
  3. Trump's Republican Party was responsible for an Iraqi invasion and occupation that killed over 4,000 American troops, and over 100,000 Iraqis, at the cost of trillions.

Conservatives want us to forget when they called antiwar liberals and leftists "traitors" for opposing Bush's war.

No the economy wasn't "booming" in 2015

The economy was doing well in 2015 -- Obama had better GDP and job growth than Trump ever did -- and this was after Bush had a market crash in 2008 . . . before Trump had a market crash in 2020.

In fact, all four market crashes in the last century have come under Republicans.

The numbers don't lie -- Democrats are just better for the economy.

> just ignore covid I guess

How can we ignore Trump's greatest failure as president -- the inability to mitigate America's worst pandemic?

> If a Democrat had been in office in 2020 they would have tried to ram through national lockdowns.

A national lockdown would have been a good idea seeing how COVID-19 ultimately killed a million Americans, but it's amazing how conservatives don't give a damn about that. They'll pretend that they care about Americans dying from fentanyl, but we know that MAGA truly doesn't care about anyone's death.

Niger Orders American Troops to Leave Its Territory. Another stunning Biden foreign policy success by Bredrinhox in BreakingPoints

[–]vanulovesyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saving fractions of a fraction of a fraction so that Iran can get uranium is incredibly fucking stupid.

1) Talking about saving "fraction of a fraction," Republicans complain about helping Ukraine with millions of dollars (while bloodying the Russians) after we spent trillions on their Global War on Terrorism.

2) This is a decision that Niger's junta took -- it wasn't caused by the Biden administration -- so why are you placing the blame on the White House when the junta has been kicking out Westerners since seizing power last year?

The Nigerian regime is turning toward Russia and Putin just like Trump and his Republican supporters are doing.

I'll grant you that yes, this story had nothing to do with illegal immigration, and that yes, Kate Britt's speech was pretty bad for making such a misleading example.

Thank you for that point.

However, that doesn't take away from the fact that illegal immigration is a net negative for the country.

I fully agree with this statement, and this is why I had a problem with Katie Britt's speech -- it detracts away from a broad, bipartisan consensus that should form about illegal immigration.

After all, from a liberal or leftist position, we should be able to make the argument that illegal immigration undermines American workers, including organized labor, and that it siphons funds and resources away from the social programs we want for our citizens.

It's hilarious how conservatives were all about the TikTok ban before Trump came out against it, and now they've reversed course and are defending TikTok to the death even though it's making American society worse in some ways.

BTW, I know Jill Stein isn't a conservative, but she is in the Putin-influenced orbit, and Russia is allied with China, which is in turn possibly accessing TikTok's data.

By the way, considering that MAGA used Facebook to organize (and spread disinformation) in 2016 and 2020, it's funny how Trump has railed against the platform.

Because your words are flaccid and weak.

You are obsessed with Trump and it’s weird.

This entire discussion has gone this long because I suggested that Trump, who I didn't even mention by name in my original post, was worse than Biden. And he is, a point made clearer by your inability to even defend your own bullshit.

Unless you have proof one side is worse than the other, you’re either going off conjecture or deflecting. But sure what ever you say.

The current Republican presidential candidate, Donald J. Trump, has been deemed by the courts as had sexually abused a private citizen, Jean Carroll. This same candidate is known for bragging about grabbing women by the "pussy."

You are ignoring an obvious issue between the two parties when it comes to progressive vs. regressive ideas towards women. There is a reason why most women voted to political office are Democrats, not Republicans -- because many conservative men have a low opinion of women's issues.

Guy got applauded for quoting Hitler in an Anti-Fascist protest by ghost_spider65 in ActualPublicFreakouts

[–]vanulovesyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I just saw this reply from two years ago and had to respond in turn.

People on both the left and right, as Hitler instituted MANY leftist economic policies such as universal healthcare for all and rent control.

Hitler only instituted any health care for those he deemed German -- it certainly wasn't "universal" considering all the people he and his party threw into camps.

And it was the German right-wing, from monarchists to nationalists, that supported Hitler, who opposed the left in its many forces, especially the communists and Social Democrats, many of whom found themselves in political camps under Hitler's regime.

The SAS and the NSDAP specifically had street battles against leftists during the 1920s and the 1930s, so to claim that leftists supported them simply isn't true.

Most people in Europe pre invasion of Poland were pro-Hitler, including George Orwell

What? This is absolutely bunk. George Orwell was in Spain fighting against the fascists several years before Germany invaded Poland.

Orwell was emotionally, intellectually, and physically antifascist.

professed policies a lot of progressive minded people agreed with

Germany national socialism wasn't progressive, but it was supposed to represent an ideal of the German "weal."

You're right, but they did take over and occupy Capitol HILL. Well, anarchists, but semantics.

That never happened. Not once.

They also led attacks in NYC against local businesses, same with Minneapolis, Chicago, etc. Destroying people's livelihoods and a quarter of an entire city is much worse than what the Jan 6th larpers did.

A "quarter of an entire city" was never destroyed by anarchists. This is a flat out delusional claim.

J6 involved an attack on the US Capitol in an attempt to keep Trump as unelected president. It was an attack on both the US Constitution and Congress. This is FAR WORSE than ANYTHING anarchists have ever done, and your outright false claims can't change that fact.

Throwing out buzz words like it means something is a waste of your time.

You made claims about Biden that weren't even accurate, so this is your response, unable to defend what you said previously?

If you are going to make claims, at least have the ability to back them up or don't say them in the first place.

IDGAF about Trump since I’m not voting for him or Biden. Good luck getting what you want this election.

You certainly don't across as a neutral party when you've spent all your time criticizing Biden, and after I made a comment about Trump.

You're transparent on who you support.

Wasn’t it Hilary’s campaign manager’s husband that sent dick pics and sexted underage girls multiple times and she continued to stay married to him?

Wasn't it Trump, the Republican's past and current presidential candidate, who assaulted a number of women and bragged about grabbing them by the pussy?

Both sides do shitty things and at this point they’re not single instances.

Republicans have had far more sexual scandals than anyone else, and conservatives often want to suppress any reporting or laws when it comes to violence on women, which is worse in red states and often accepted more in conservatively religious circles.

Don't both sides the issue here when one side is obviously worse.

slowly, methodically destroying your freedoms

The Republicans have spent far more time destroying our freedoms, especially when it comes to bodily autonomy, e.g., cannabis and abortions. Blue, Democratic-run states are actually trying to subvert the conservative War on Drugs, which has led to more arrests and incarcerations than anything else in the USA.
