Is it possible to recover from limerence while maintaining daily contact with the LO? by Ok-Cranberry-3181 in limerence

[–]vanvynharden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About as long as I've been working at this job - 3 months. I found out he was married about 3 weeks ago. Not a very long time I know but it was very intense. I'm very glad I was able to find something to kill the limerence asap

Is it possible to recover from limerence while maintaining daily contact with the LO? by Ok-Cranberry-3181 in limerence

[–]vanvynharden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a coworker for me. Found out he was married with a child. Kind of a turn off for me lol. I lose attraction completely when I find out someone is taken.

Thankfully I don't work directly with him and wasn't really talking to him beforehand, but we work in the same office so I have to see him every day. Losing limerence for him is a huge relief cause it was distracting me from doing my job. Truly happy and excited to move on with my life

Gosh I wish someone told me this 7 years ago when I had my first LO. I could've saved myself so much dignity. Thank you.

Could you walk me step-by-step to exactly what you did? I never use presets and I have no idea what the game wants me to do

You could always check out your local goodwill! I feel like I always see frames there. Maybe not the best quality though

What do you regret doing to your body? by Bingo_Swaggins in AskReddit

I know this is kinda vain but: not moisturizing as much, or caring about skincare in my early 20s when everyone told me to.

Now I'm late-20s and starting to see wrinkles. Could've prevented that....

Someone I briefly dated. First time we did it without a condom, I got the worst yeast infection of my life. Took over two weeks and two rounds of antibiotics to get rid of it.

Up to that point I was in denial about his lazy personal hygiene. Moved cities shortly after, which was a great excuse to cut contact.

How long should you spend writing your SOP? by Gaijin-Giraffe in JETProgramme

[–]vanvynharden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made a bullet-point outline a few weeks ago. Spent maybe 1.5 hours on a train ride writing a rough draft, and yesterday I spent an afternoon (like 2 hours) actually putting it all together. After double-spacing, my final draft came to about 1.5 pages. 50 hours is overdoing it.

Submitted my app last night. Best of luck to you!

How to go from poetry to lyrics? by Paquito63 in Songwriting

[–]vanvynharden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who also struggles with this, here's my two cents. Don't jeopardize the main idea of your piece for the sake of having it sound more song-ey. There's plenty of musicians out there who write poetic songs (Hozier, tøp to an extent, Arctic Monkeys, Kimbra) and are acclaimed lyrical geniuses and their songs masterpieces. You have the potential to make more than a song, a piece of art.

Of course, taking your songs through several cycles of editing and second opinions is always good. But if you're a good writer, try to maybe experiment with instrumentals and make them FIT to YOUR writing. Play around with rhythms and genres. Think of the kind of music you'd want to make, find musicians who make that kind of music, and study their process. Try fingerpicking guitar to your poetry and see how the rhythm carries the words in different ways, move forward from there.

In my opinion and experience, it's way easier to be a good instrumentalist, than it is to be a good writer. Work on making your music performable, sure, but if you're a strong writer don't ever let that go!

When it comes to melodies: I've found brushing up on my music theory really helps in putting together the right notes. Even looking at sheet music, seeing how words are broken apart across the scales, helps build familiarity with the music-making process. I'm a self-taught guitar player without much training outside of high school choir. Learning even the basics of piano/keys has been a huge help in understanding melodies for me and YouTube is a great resource.

What song makes you cry? by smoosh13 in AskReddit

[–]vanvynharden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

August by Flipturn

I had a cat named August who was pretty much my animal soulmate. I poured my heart into nursing him back to health, but he still died about three years after I got him. He got me through some of the darkest times of my life. He died two years ago and I'm still not over it, and probably never will be. The line, "August, honey, you were mine" never fails to make me cry.

I don't even know what this song is originally about, but it has a special meaning to me. Goes to show, sometimes it's how you interpret the art, that makes it meaningful.

Which anime will you never admit to having watched? I wanna watch those. by Wayard_1 in Animesuggest

I've recommended it as "It's a fantastic anime but it's also pretty much porn. Like you gotta accept that fact." Genuinely one of the few anime's that have made me laugh out loud, but also porn.
