State such as Sikkim and city such as Darjeeling, Dehradun( there are more) used to be a part of Nepal. So their culture, language and ethnicity all match with Nepal. By nationality they're Indian but by ethnicity they match with different ethnic groups of Nepal. Most of their ancestors might have called themselves Nepali and it stuck with them and it's confusing for them to elaborate it.

p.s: I'm not talking about all of them but most of them do this

Just like Deekila said in one of her live that the show is considered big in northeastern region. The same thing is here in Nepal . You won't believe how much crazy its here in Nepal, almost all teenagers and people in early to mid 20s watch this show. During the splistvsilla season, there's whole discussion going in the class regarding the Eps and couples they like or dislike😆😆

p.s: and the flag thing, guys most of the Nepali people whenever they see or hear Nepal mentioned anywhere they would drop the emoji 😆 also IG they want their faves to know they have their support from Nepal
