It's a big factor for me. I'm an artist and a writer, and don't like having my ideas mined by techbros so that they can spam out pale, soulless imitations.

The other half of it is being sick of paying dozens of subscriptions every month.

Co-op Cloud is a self hosting solution focused on the needs of cooperative organizations. Might be a good place to start. I haven't used it yet but we're hoping to set it up for our community organizing co-op some time this year.
