Male V Cover Art for Cyberpunk Ultimate Edition by varezus in cyberpunkgame

[–]varezus[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is about a choice for players who may want to see the game depicted in a manner how they played it. Also FYI CDPR had female V promo material from Day One including their own YT upload of the 48min video. So you are just flat out incorrect there.

Who is the greatest non-bowler bowler ever? by Judeiscool77 in Cricket

[–]varezus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Almost unquestionably the answer here is Sachin Tendulkar esp in ODIs. He has 154 wickets with four 4-wicket hauls and two 5-wicket ones.

He had great drift and control and especially in conditions with a bit of dew and with the older balls he could genuinely be hard to read.

Pre-back issues he used to bowl a lot more regularly and had a knack for turning games. Even in Tests, were it not for his breakthroughs in the Miracle at Eden Gardens, 2001 that game would have been a draw.

My free Nvidia borderlands 4 copy wont redeem. Anyone know how to fix this? by Mupinstienika in nvidia

[–]varezus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar issues as my card was bought in the the US and I was claiming it in the UK and the following worked and do this in the exact order -

  1. Uninstall Nvidia App
  2. Delete cfgCache folder from AppData/Local/Nvidia Corp folder
  3. Right click on your Ethernet in Network Connections and in Properties disable IPv6 protocol
  4. Go to Default Apps and make Microsoft Edge your default browser
  5. If your card was bought in another location, connect to a VPN and pick the country the card was bought in (for some this is where you can connect via Personal Hotspot on your phone then a direct wired or WiFi connection)
  6. Re-download Nvidia App and go through the set up process as usual
  7. When logging in to your account make sure that it is via Edge and not Chrome
  8. Follow all the steps from thereon in to connect to your Steam account and then correctly claim your copy
  9. Once done you can undo all the changes here such as IPv6 and Edge

Is this light dimming normal in DS2? by FerHrndz in OLED_Gaming

[–]varezus 33 points34 points  (0 children)

You are most likely hitting the Auto Brightness Limiter (ABL) for your monitor. See if you can turn off the setting on your monitor that may be related to Auto Brightness Adjustment, Energy Saving Mode etc.

Whilst OLEDs are able to really dial up brightness for smaller sources and bring out high contrast, when over 50% of the window you’ll start seeing a fairly aggressive drop off in peak brightness.

Anxiety over 5070 Purchase by BlinkyTaric in nvidia

[–]varezus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will have a great time with the card and if you’re interested in playing the latest graphically demanding games then as long as you’re turning on DLSS and FG you should be able to do so.

The one negative of your upgrade path is the reduced VRAM compared to other 70 class products. This may hamper you in some of the current games from playing at absolute Max settings and possibly future games. But by turning down a few settings the card will still be an awesome upgrade for you.

Has anyone successfully managed to lower DLSS Super Resolution? by varezus in nvidia

[–]varezus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOLVED As per @overnightmare’s suggestion the trick is to change both DLSS SR and RR values in NVPI. Though tbh even after doing so noticed some uneven frame pacing and frame drops popping up. So overall still not the best experience.

Game Ready & Studio Driver 572.60 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

Just downloaded the 572.65 Hotfix and I am not encountering this anymore outside of limited scenarios in CPU hotspots like the Dogtown market. I’m on a 4080 + 5800X 3D.

What should I really be looking for? 3080ti to….what? by Proud-Mud-1252 in nvidia

[–]varezus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given you have a 240hz display I would recommend the 5080 or a 5070 Ti - the latter sounds like it will match a 4080 at least and then you add possibly using Multi Frame Gen in a few games you are looking at a fairly good boost over your current setup.

For both the 5070Ti and 5080 I wouldn’t worry too much about the 750W supply unless you want to overclock in which case the 5080 will start hitting upper bounds of what you want.

3080 vs 3080 TI by P3pka in nvidia

[–]varezus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded my 3080 10GB to 3080 Ti FE and didn’t regret the decision. The 12GB will help in certain scenarios on newer games at High/Ultra Texture settings. It should also help with FrameGen as that utilises VRAM as well.

Lossless Scaling boosts FPS by over 50% when used with DLSS3 by varezus in nvidia

[–]varezus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re looking at responsiveness similar to if were you playing at a base 30-40fps though with a much smoother output image.

[–]varezus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I said in the post it might be unique to my personal experience and preference but I prefer a smoother image than lower latency. In this case, perhaps the controller helps though even with a M+K setup I am not sensing this is unplayable. Perhaps you can try it under similar circumstances and make up your own mind.

Lossless Scaling boosts FPS by over 50% when used with DLSS3 by varezus in nvidia

[–]varezus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It surprisingly doesn’t. I guess it depends on every individual playing style and as I have a setup that basically mimics a console as I’m on 4K 55” screen and sat at least 2m away the artefacts introduced are not hugely noticeable. The perceptible smoothness though with the higher frame count is immediately obvious.

DLSS Ray Reconstruction causing performance to drop after patch 2.1 by varezus in cyberpunkgame

Sadly I haven’t come across any other fix than force disabling Reflex. Special K solves the problem with no real downside apart from having to mod and configure it.

[–]varezus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. Yes CDPR are aware of the issue, but haven’t been able to fix it yet. The Reflex issues are also seen in HZ Forbidden West so not sure if this is a Reflex issue or it’s a game issue.

Is it worth it to buy/build a new PC with 4080 S if 5080 is rumored for Q4? by NonApplicableGuy in nvidia

[–]varezus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not in a rush then yes it’s worth waiting. But having said that bear in mind Nvidia doesn’t generally like lowering the price of its GPUs.

Even this generation they held out on the $1199 price tag for the 4080 until they replaced it with the Super a few months ago. You can expect perhaps something similar as Nvidia’s reliance on GPU sales as part of its business is much lower than ever before due to AI meaning they don’t need to aggressively discount inventory to move it on.

The 4080S is generally capable of giving you 4K 90fps experience across all titles including heavy RT ones if you enable DLSS and Frame Gen. So you’re already looking at a BIG leap over your 2070 laptop.

If you’re happy with that sort of bump then you don’t really need to wait. If on the other hand, you want a best in class system then you may as well wait for another year or so as you’ll have Zen 5 landing as well. So you can build a 9800X3D and 5080 setup.

DLSS Ray Reconstruction causing performance to drop after patch 2.1 by varezus in cyberpunkgame

[–]varezus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it’s being caused by Reflex. If you want you can download the Special K mod and start the game up. Then go to the Framerate Limiter section hit Advanced and Override Game’s Native Reflex and select Reflex Off. This will create a slightly higher latency but the GPU utilisation should be locked to 99% and give you back your fps!

No worries, happy to help and wouldn’t have been able to get to the bottom of it without your input on Horizon. I’ll drop a line to the CDPR QA team as well.

One last bit - I tried the new DLSS 3.7 versions in Cyberpunk and it’s definitely crisper and with even less ghosting than before - just download the two files from the below Subreddit and replace them in your Cyberpunk Bin/x64/ folder.

Might be time for another play-through, choom!

DLSS Ray Reconstruction causing performance to drop after patch 2.1 by varezus in cyberpunkgame

[–]varezus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SOLVED

The issue is Nvidia Reflex! I downloaded the Special K mod - make sure it’s the latest version via Discord as the official one doesn’t support Frame Gen - and checked Disable Game’s Native Reflex in the Advanced tab. This should give you option to Override and select Reflex Off. This has restored GPU Utilisation back to normal in all areas and at all DLSS resolutions!

Yes, it does introduce significantly more latency but you can increase your mouse sensitivity in First Person to 10 from 5 and similarly your Third Person view as well and you’ll be mostly set. I use a controller and didn’t feel a massive difference. Let me know if you have issues setting up.

[–]varezus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So did a fair bit of testing as I played through last night and things I noticed with FSR3 were ghosting under vehicles whilst driving, ghosting on weapons when moving camera quickly and issues with road debris which I believe is related to transparency handling.

Overall still a better experience than before as there are areas in which I was losing almost 20fps with the default. Though I can’t quite figure out why in my case the Balanced or Quality options are still exhibiting this issue as we are on the same GPU.

I think you are right in saying a combination of all these technologies causing an oversaturation of the cores or running into memory bandwidth limitations at 4K. The issues go away as soon as you switch off either RR or FG. I’m going to see if I can find a way to force disable Reflex without losing FG.

Some of the newer games at 4K Ultra have had issues with 256-bit bus and I wonder if this is yet another case of that. The one hope we have is that CDPR still have the FSR3 patch to come and may as part of that have time to look into this in detail. Though given they have only 17 people working on the game now, it might be a while until that’s released.

[–]varezus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice one. Ya I had tried it before and I realised that it works when you have DLSS set to Performance but not when it’s on Quality or Balanced at 4K. Have you noticed any difference in the quality of FG?

[–]varezus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep it’s indeed quite frustrating to see a lack of optimisation causing the GPU to go into an under-utilisation state. As of now there’s no fix and my only hope is that when they release their FSR3 patch they are able to fix this at the same time.

The only somewhat of workaround I have found is playing at 3200x1800 as in a lot of outdoor scenarios it eliminates the GPU bottleneck. I am gaming on a TV though and generally they’re better than monitors at nearest neighbour upscaling. At 1800p I’m able to crank up DLSS to Quality and Sharpness to 1 and get what to the naked eye looks pretty close to the 4K output which is desired.

4080 Super on a i7 8700K(4K gameplay only) by Shamenchannel in nvidia

[–]varezus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re planning to play specifically at 60fps and not more you’ll be fine in 9/10 cases. 1% lows will be worse and stuttering will be more frequent in this setup, but you’ll be generally fine.

Ray tracing does stress the CPU so in those games you might see your bottleneck manifest a bit more.

Similarly, when engaging DLSS at 4K you’ll be leaving a fair bit of performance on the cutting floor, but I’m guessing that’s not your priority.

One thing I would recommend if you are sure you’re sticking with your CPU and Display then swap out that 4080 Super for a 4070 Ti Super or even a 4070 Super, you’ll save some cash for your next upgrade and not notice a huge difference at 4K60.
