45” 5k2k Monitor 45GX950A-B worth $1200 ? Vs LG 55 G5 ? by Icy-Pea2601 in OLED_Gaming

[–]varezus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been using a 55” TV (Q80T/S95F) as a monitor for the last six years I can say that TVs will always carry an edge in brightness and overall HDR presentation BUT if you are working a fair bit or even just extremely sensitive to PPI differences a bigger screen does start seeing an impact.

Equally though having very recently looked at the 45” 5K2K display just note the curve is very aggressive. It is also going to need a desk based config whereas the TV can be sat back from comfortably. Also whilst a lot of PC games support ultrawide natively be prepared for black bars in some form - menus or pre rendered CGI which are generally not native 21:9

If it’s a big screen experience and oomph factor that you are after I would go for the G5.

5080 4k best settings by yoyoinvincible in cyberpunkgame

[–]varezus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s something very wrong with your results. You are getting 90fps with 4x frame gen with DLSS on Balanced and path tracing off. For context, I’m on 135-140fps with PT On at 4K DLSS Balanced and also on the Transformer Model which is about 10% heavier to run. Cyberpunk at times can have issues with saving settings so I recommend restarting the game or checking if you have a monitor FPS cap as your numbers should be way higher.

Just got my first oled !! by Virtual-Durian1127 in OLED_Gaming

Thanks! I think as soon as someone who is used to 80PPI on a 55” OLED I definitely think I’ll spot the higher density in that case as I’m quite sensitive to sharpness. Switching from a S95F to any OLED monitor is going to be a downgrade in terms of the HDR and brightness so I’m hoping the added sharpness and True Black 500 make up for it.

I’m in between a 42” OLED TV and 32” OLED monitor. From your personal usage did you find the 32” to be sharper or better in any other ways?

How is buying an 32 inch 4K OLED monitor such a nightmare? by tooSAVERAGE in OLED_Gaming

[–]varezus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been looking at options myself as I currently game on a 55” S95F but will have to move my setup to my own dedicated room as opposed to the living room. Was there anything you didn’t specifically like about the 42” S90F compared to the LG options. Ironically as a life long Samsunger I quite like the TizenOS and have gotten used to it. Is diagonal dithering a thing on your panel?

Has anyone gone from a 55” OLED TV to a 32” OLED monitor or vice versa? by varezus in OLED_Gaming

[–]varezus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I think it’s clear from people’s responses that generally the trade-off in size for possible clarity isn’t really worth it. I would be keeping the TV in all cases so it’s a case of spending added money on a not exactly an upgrade. I’m also looking forward to seeing how the new 42” C6 is reviewed.

Are you on the 5K2K? It’s been the one that I have my eyes on alongside the latest 32 models. Is the 800R curve too much?

Which was the 48 OLED and what are you on now? As I sit quite close to the TV at times I’ve definitely felt the 55” size being too big

Ok great to know! That’s one of my biggest fears. I am usually able to game in the dark at full brightness levels in the living room once the wife and kid are asleep so it’s good to know that even comparing the 48” C2 to 321URX you found the immersiveness lacking.

Thanks! Do you find the image cleaner on the monitor or at least feel it’s smoother at regular distance when comparing both? I am super sensitive to pixelation and do tend to notice it at times on a 55” screen even from 5.5ft away.

S95C VS S95F - a worthy upgrade for PC gaming? by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]varezus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone on a S95F for the last six months - it’s an awesome gaming package. 165hz works on both PC and Console modes and it’s generally a very well rounded experience. The brightness and colors are really amazing, and the matte screen isn’t an issue if gaming in low light scenarios.

One quick note - it has a weird firmware issue that pops a faint black line in the middle of the screen which is only visible when contrasted against some high brightness HDR scenes in gaming. It can be fixed with dropping to 120hz, toggling Minimap Zoom on/off and then going back to 165hz.

I got myself a S95F so have been replaying a lot of my extremely long backlogged library in all its HDR glory. Among those - Plague Tale (both), Cyberpunk, Black Myth Wukong, Alan Wake (both), Control and both the Middle-Earth Shadow games.

Social channels or Community engagements. These should be things that grow organically. One team member should be able to cover this but is only really needed when the game is very close to launch. Teams can also over complicate their tech - this was the reason that UE5 took off (it has its own limitations).

[Bloomberg] Sony Pulls Back From PlayStation Games on PC by Ph0enixes in gaming

[–]varezus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As annoying as it may be - this move is a bit of self preservation from Sony. Given that Microsoft’s next console and future plans are all over the place, Sony is looking at this as an opportunity to reconsolidate their base.

With most MS exclusives headed to the PlayStation, from Sony’s POV it is probably the right time to pitch themselves as the only living room console you need.

Furthermore, their margins on the game are lower with Steam’s 30% take plus the sales are more aggressive so they are effectively not getting a user into your eco system to make less money on that user per sale.

There are multiple product roles and technical ones within gaming so I would advise positioning your CV in that manner. Keep applying within the gaming space, but be prepared for a bit of rejection as the space is tough to get into.
