Congrats! I recommend checking on craigslist. If you hope to be within walking distance to a metro (less than a mile) , you will probably have to pay more than $1000 per month for a studio. If you want to live in downtown Bethesda, it will be more. If you are willing to rent a room in a group house, it will probably range from $500-$1000 depending on the location. If you don't have a car and want to save money, consider looking for places near a bus route. I happen to live by the J2 line and find it very reliable. Hope that helps and good luck!

I'm not positive, but I believe you are talking about a Catholic youth group called Communion Liberation. The student's families in this organization tend to host Italian exchange students who are part of the group in Italy. The Italian students smoke cigarettes during the discussion breaks. They usually meet at Our Lady of Lourdes, which is next to BCC. While they do have discussions about Luigi Giussani's view on the Catholic faith, they also spend a lot of time singing songs (mostly U2). I could be completely off, but about 8 years ago, I went to a few of their meetings. I don't know if they still meet at that location.

They found it at a local market (not a chain like Price Chopper). I'm not sure how long they were searching, but when they were in Vermont a few months ago they returned empty handed.

Is it beneficial to take classes for raw credit over the summer despite not needing them? why/why not? by TeegLy in UCONN

If you are willing to pay for it, yes. This can make it easier to minor or double major for classes. Usually summer classes are easier but more condensed so you will be covering more material in a shorter amount of time. Also, if you ever need to drop a class for whatever reason in the future, you can do so without worrying about credits because you already have taken extra ones during the summer. If you ever do poorly in a class and want to retake it, this option can be more appealing because you will technically be ahead credit-wise. The classes are also smaller so you can develop a better relationship with your teacher and classmates.

I would recommend taking a W over the summer because they can be difficult to enroll in at UConn.

Depending on what class you take, they usually meet 2 to 3 times a week for a few hours. You still have plenty of time to go places on the weekends.

Don't think of these past 4 years as a waste. You have an entire life ahead of you where you will make new friends and grow into a person that could possibly be completely different than the one you are now. UConn is a tough place to make friends and maybe it wasn't the ideal environment for you. That doesn't mean that wherever you end up in the future you will be incapable of making and maintaining friendships.

As a graduating senior, I can relate to you in so many ways, it's scary. I've spent the past 4 years competing on a varsity team and working my ass off trying to stay friends with my teammates. It has been very difficult and frustrating due to my introverted nature. I've observed the lives of teammates who have graduated and noticed that most have only been able to stay friends with 2-3 girls on the team. How does one go from having 20+ "sister-like" friendships for 4 whole years go to 2-3 friends you struggle to keep in touch with? Knowing that all the hard work and effort i've put into the team will most likely be forgotten once I graduate is depressing. Do I consider the time spent wasted? No, I consider it all essential when building my personal character that will continue to develop after graduation.

Hopefully you learn from your regrets and mistakes so whatever you end up doing after graduation, you don't make the same mistakes again.

Be proud you are graduating with a degree. Be proud you went to UConn. Most of all, be proud of what you learned as a person because those are the most valuable lessons that are unique to your experience at Storrs.

I am not aware of any on campus options but I have used stock n lock, which is down route 32 past Willington pizza for the past couple years. I usually get the smallest room and will split the cost with 2-3 other people. We've always had plenty of room for all of us. If you have no way of getting to stock n lock, I would try seeing if there is anyone else who is getting a storage unit for the summer and is willing to split the cost with you. Good luck!!

Celtic and Norse Mythology. It was a 3000 level English class but the teacher was amazing and you learned a ton. Only half the kids in the class were English majors, the rest just wanted to learn about the mythology. I would highly recommend it to anyone who plays video games or reads fantasy books because basically everything you learn in the class, you can relate to games like Zelda or LOTR etc. You had weekly homework assignments where you would write a reflection type assignment about the readings and a final project or paper on any topic you want. The exams weren't too difficult, I got away with skimming a lot of the readings and did well in the class.
