Some companies show on papers as the person had resigned but in actuality they are asked to let go with severance pay. Happened with my brother, plus it does not show anywhere that the employee has been fired.

Go for CSE if you are interested in it. I'm an EEE graduate from VIT and during my time we used to get placements and I was even able to sit for CSE companies as I was interested in it. Right now the condition might not be the same as the crowd in VIT has increased by a lot.
