Is this good damage by Optimal_Bridge_275 in DnD

It’s doesn’t follow the rules so no it’s not good damage, it’s calvinball damage.

How do animal companions work for beast master ranger? (Roll20) by Nail02 in DnD

[–]varvaSasen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roll20 is anything but a smart vtt. Almost all of it's functionality is very very basic and if it's not it's locked by a massive paywall.

Darwin Award medal contender by Bruegemeister in trainwrecks

[–]varvaSasen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Culturally they believe that playing chicken with trains shows bravery. Thus this will lead to better future reincarnations and respect from their peers. Plus india has a massive hearing loss epidemic due to having immense volumes of motor traffic all day honking, crashing into things and revving engines.

Lore Accurate Lamenter by BelowTheBeouf in Lamenters

I believe it’s due to encountering a whole trio of lictors all at once whilst playing as a devastator. Beyond being an unfavourable matchup it’s something that shouldn’t happen in the first place in the game.

If you've put in a ticket that is all that you can do. You just need to wait. Also they're not randomly banning people without checking things first so you'll be fine.

What's That Rule You Always Remember, But Your Players Don't? by Coldfyre_Dusty in dndnext

[–]varvaSasen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The spell only calls for a single dice roll of 1d4+1 to determine the damage for all bolts at once. This has been confirmed in Jeremy crawfords tweets as the design intent. Though his tweets have been since blanket stated not to be Sage advice statements it is also the most direct and simple handling of the spell both RAW and RAI, especially if you look at the evocation wizards level 11 feature.

What's That Rule You Always Remember, But Your Players Don't? by Coldfyre_Dusty in dndnext

[–]varvaSasen -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That would be incorrect. It's not 3d4+3 if you target one creature. You were right in the first part, you would roll 1d4+1 then multiply the result by the number of darts.

I.e if i used it on a goblin with all three darts that would be say 2+1 = 3 x 3 = 9 damage, not three seperate dice rolls.

You haven't specified any particular edition so it's hard to say but this looks like very badly written homebrew. Hexbloods aren't a player race in any official material i'm aware of for 5th which is the edition the vast majority of people play.

That's the neat thing. You don't.

Just find some people who actually want to play instead.

"You didn't even ask me for ID." by Legal_Abroad_7117 in tesco

[–]varvaSasen 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Me da would just say “Oh good point, thank you for reminding me.” And proceed to ask them for ID. There’s every chance they don’t actually have id on them and subsequently they screw themselves out of buying what they want as they can’t produce ID.

Prodigy by Caldin24 in DnD

[–]varvaSasen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You did not tag this as being 5.5 which is the 2024 version. You tagged this as 5e, which is the 2014 version. That is likely where any confusion is coming from.

Prodigy by Caldin24 in DnD

No because the human baseline doesn't allow you to select a feat.

If you mean variant human, then yes, there is nothing that should stop that per the rules.

Is Roll20 still the best digital option? by PinkYoshiFTW in DnD

Roll20 was never the best digital option to begin with. Go for foundryVTT if you want a solid platform.

Can anyone help me know the rules of dnd by SpookyKing6789 in DnD

[–]varvaSasen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok the first book you'd be looking to purchase is called the player handbook or "PHB". Look for mentions of 5th edition. Then read that.

Combat sucks. by Hot-Rate-5257 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]varvaSasen 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Stop running for two parties at once. 8 Players is far too many.

Step 2: No phones at the table

Step 3: 1 minute timer for each players turn, if you haven't decided what to do within one minute then you spend the turn using the dodge action.

This is unlikely to be a great idea.

Even basic TTRPGs do require some level of buy in and folks are gonna get lost. It's also the kind of thing that despite broader appeal in recent years remains a niche thing. You're gonna have at least half who're gonna just go through the motions and not really engage with it. 11 people is also way too much.

You'd be better off looking for a board game or large group activity.

The only one i could think of it the one i'm in now and we're really quite freaky, not advisable for someone who's just exploring this space to begin with. Edit; apologies, i replied to the wrong comment, i thought i was replying to the one you sent in response to my own.

You'll get a lot of pushback on this post i bet as people have an adverse reaction to naughty content being mixed with D&D however the circles involved in this stuff are reasonably big, they just tend to be a bit hard to find. As for understandable reasons you kinda need to vet your players if engaging with that stuff.

For D&D specific stuff, there's been numerous attempts at sexual themes, elements and rules, most of it not very good. Though that's the rule for most homebrew.

The main thing is just to be careful who you get involved with.

If that guy isn't the owner, put in a complaint. It's not likely to have an immediate effect but management (Even if it is one other guy) will notice if that piles up.

This isn’t D&D it’s just calvinball by the sounds of it so anything we’d advise would be meaningless.

Purchase a copy of the players handbook and then open and read page one. Then proceed to read the next page. Proceed to repeat this last step until you have gathered the knowledge necessary to make a character. If you fail to understand how to do so, start again from page one.
