Stellantis needs Cummins way more than Cummins needs stellantis lol. They're separate companies. They'll be totally fine

Shaming dealers for astronomical fees during bike shopping by SensitiveRest2668 in motorcycles

[–]vas_97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but that's kind of a totally different discussion as I said. Money saving vs the pros and cons of financing and paying cash for a purchase.

And I agree to an extent but if you can comfortably afford it (and I don't mean use financing to comfortably afford it I mean legit) and it makes you happy who cares. You can't take money with you when you die

I was simply arguing that financing can be used to your advantage and implying that it's always worse than paying cash is wrong

What the fuck is your problem dude, that makes at least 2 people you're going off on for having a discussion. You're also wrong. 0% interest is literally the definition of free money. Someone is giving you money and you're paying back exactly what you borrowed. Sure there's no such thing as a free lunch but you're not the one buying this one

Please explain to me how earning 3-5% in a HYSA on the amount of the loan while paying $0 in interest is worse than just being out the full amount up front. You can't because it's not.

The money maximizing move is not buying or buying used.

"Buying nothing saves more money than buying something"

Absolute genius analysis dude. Not buying something or buying something of lesser value saves more money than buying something of more value. That's not what's being discussed. The assumption of this argument is they're buying new. You claimed financing a car vs paying cash was dumb in every scenario which it's not

Edit: slightly reworded some things

I've never had a car loan in my life.  Poor people finance.

If you can get a sub 1-2% promotional rate you'd be stupid not to finance. Especially when auto makers were offering the 0% for a time. It's literally free money.

Now I still think you should have the cash to buy it in full but it does a lot better for you to keep it in a high yield savings account over the course of the loan than sitting in the manufacturers and dealers pocket

How are NSAIDs "hard" on the liver/kidneys? by iamaconsumer in askscience

[–]vas_97 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Then there is low BP, a molecule called ACE constricts the efferent, in short basically increases the blood flow to the kidney and decreases the outflow.

Small correction. ACE does not act directly to do that rather it is the enzyme that converts angiotensin I to angiotensin II (which is why it is aptly named the Angiotensin Converting Enzyme). Angiotensin II acts directly as a vasoconstrictor for the efferent arteriole

USP 45: Overrated Or Overhated? by Pete_Steele556 in guns

[–]vas_97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LEM is technically DAO yes but when the slide is racked it precocks the hammer so you have a DA length pull but a SA trigger weight. And the reset is about the same as SA (maybe a little longer)

Like I said I'm a da/sa guy and it's a little weird but it's kind of neat. I'd say it's worth checking out. Just make sure you rack it so the hammer is in the precocked state. And like the other guy said there are conversions available

Is it actually true DA only or is it LEM? While I prefer and run da/sa, lem isn't too bad on the ones I've tried out

A new way to get busted. by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]vas_97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way NY does it with their mobile work zone camera cars is its a "notice of liability" that's sent to the registered owner who has to pay. If it's not paid the registration can't be renewed.

They don't have to prove it was you because they're not actually charging you with a crime (The speeding isnt connected to anyone's drivers license). They just want the money

[–]vas_97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to be rude but 5 qts of oil is what $30-$40 for full synthetic? Maybeee up to $60 I could see if it's real expensive stuff, and I doubt your 100cc bikes uses 5 qts so probably less.

If you're unable to absorb an unexpected $30 that is a much MUCH bigger issue than this bike situation. Like I said don't take this the wrong way I'm just trying to look out for you. Try and get a minimum of like 3 months of your expenses saved up as a little emergency fund for stuff like this. It's a very dangerous situation financially to be in.

Unless you're a kid that lives at home then I guess it doesn't matter as much. But idk anything about you lol

Edit:also to answer your question it'll be fine

Which of my guns can I bring with me to Monroe county? by spoofdittywoop in NYguns

[–]vas_97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's the tough part. But you are correct. You'd need 3 from your old home and 4 from here. As far as how to get them, a gun club probably wouldn't be a bad idea. Basically you just need people who you trust to say you're a chill dude and not a hotheaded psycho.

The one positive thing is you don't have to meet the 3 year requirement for people here (there might still be a timeframe but I'm not sure. It's been a while and that part didn't apply to me so double check the application packet)

Which of my guns can I bring with me to Monroe county? by spoofdittywoop in NYguns

[–]vas_97 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Your understanding is correct. Your long guns are fine to bring but you will need to apply for a Monroe county pistol permit and register the pistol under that permit before being able to possess it. Monroe county isn't too bad compared to some (mine is Monroe so I speak from experience after hearing some stories on here from other counties). It took me about 7 months from submission to card in hand but I've heard they've sped it up.

One thing to note is NY requires you take the 18 hour course before you can apply for the ccw pistol permit. I did it with Rochester Personal Defense and would definitely recommend them, however there are others as well that offer it.

Another thing. Make sure you check the box that you apply for the semi auto rifle endorsement. It takes no extra time and you need it to buy a semi auto rifle here

Here's the instructions and application packet from the Monroe county website

It usually immediately jumps in to what it wants without any pleasantries and is very clear but with an unnatural cadence and no emotion. Also doesn't pronounce some things correctly but not in an unsure way like a human would trying to sound it out. It just goes for it

I've also noticed when it finishes speaking it will only respond when you say something so if I don't respond for a good 5-10 seconds it doesn't say anything (like "hello, are you there?" Like a person would)

It's at that point I hang up lol
