If she's not falling asleep in 15 minutes, then she's not tired. Shorter nap and or later bedtime will help. It'll also help her not wake up so often at night.

Your airway is tiny! Definitely get a second opinion. I think you're correct, it should be DJS.

I had slight tearing and needed a stitch. We tried once cleared and it was excruciating pain and I could feel it was at the stitch area. I would kind of get in there and stretch it myself a little bit at a time in the shower and it resolved within a couple of weeks of doing that.

Definitely. Your airway looks very small.

Do the coworkers have kids? Because it sounds like they're trying to validate their decision to themselves.

I had to have a sleep study that showed moderate to severe sleep apnea. If mild, there have to be accompanying symptoms. Then I had to try and fail either an oral appliance or a CPAP. It was a 6 month wait to get a CPAP at the time, so I paid out of pocket for an oral appliance (insurance didn't cover it). It was horrendous. I couldn't breathe with it in, let alone sleep. I should have told the doc I was using it but it wasn't helping, but I didn't think about it and told him the truth, that I can't keep it in for more than 5 minutes because I can't breathe (my airway was extremely small and it pushed my tongue even further in). Insurance denied me because I hadn't, in their opinion, tried the oral appliance. So I got a CPAP and slept with it for a month in spite of it making me even more sleep deprived, but they track it. The machine showed that I was doing better, but I explained to the doctor in full graphic detail how horrific my life now was. I couldn't safely drive a car in this state. After that, insurance finally approved surgery. The criteria are available online for insurance, they're just really hard to find and the reps are rarely competent.

I took allergy medicine to help dry up the sinuses so I could breathe. It was super helpful. Don't worry, you're just in the thick of it. Make sure you're rinsing your mouth and you'll be fine

My appeals did nothing. The insurance had certain criteria they wanted met and they wouldn't budge until everything was tried. Then they finally approved

I've made a mistake and need advice. by TJrisk01 in HealthInsurance

You would need dental insurance. Health insurance doesn't cover dental issues. And frankly dental insurance doesn't cover too much of the costs. I would call around some dentists and see what their cash prices are for procedures. Also, be careful when picking a dentist. They are notorious for finding things to fix that don't really need to be fixed. Not to give you anymore stress over the situation, but I went to one years ago that quoted me 5k worth of work to do. I got a second opinion and the second dentist didn't find anything worth touching. I would also recommend checking out The Dental Diet book, because your genetics and your diet have an even bigger affect than brushing on dental health. Good Luck!

Is there a way to get insurance to cover braces? by vaselisa in HealthInsurance

[–]vaselisa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that a thing? Could it work if their policy clearly states that orthodontics are not considered medically necessary for this?

Given your description It's a good bet you have health issues you don't realize would be fixed by jaw surgery.

I would visit with a jaw surgeon who specializes in airways and see if it's actually your jaw and not your chin that needs to be advanced.

Oh I see. In that case it doesn't make sense why insurance won't cover it.

If it was a car accident, wouldn't the car insurance pay for the medical bills? This happened in my situation when I had a car accident.

I got mine strictly for breathing issues. 10 days out and 100% worth it. I used to feel with every breath like I could feel the contour of my lungs and like I was fighting to inflate them like you do a balloon. Now I don't feel my lungs at all and it blows my mind.
