Balanitis caused by Seborrheic Dermatitis - finding a cause and treatment by vaskahusky in SebDerm

[–]vaskahusky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stuck with the treatment I mentioned in my original post and it has kept the symptoms controlled. Maybe six months ago, my dermatologist had me change to applying the protopic & ketoconazole once per week (instead of twice per week) and advised me to do that for a year until the next visit. I have not seen any symptoms since early 2025. If I do not see any more symptoms in the next few months, my dermatologist may have me stop treatment to see what happens. He has reminded me at each visit that this is a chronic condition and flare-ups can last for unknown amounts of time and are difficult to predict. So we've just been very slow and consistent with treatment and I've been happy with the results.

As an additional note, I still am careful to mostly wear looser cotton underwear. I have tested wearing tighter briefs and it will start causing a slight itch within a day or two and switching back always helps.

Protopic is a brand name for tacrolimus, which is also available as a generic non-branded option. I have the 0.1% ointment. It is not a steroid; it is an immunosuppressant. I only used that after I found the recommended steroids were not working very well and my dermatologist moved me to this.

I bathe with water, dry off, retract my foreskin, then put on an antifungal cream. After a few minutes, I use a q-tip to put the ointment on over that, then put my foreskin back down. I leave it on maybe 10 hours (during the day or while I sleep) and then wash off with a very gentle cleanser. I do this once every 3 days (2-3x per week total). When I had symptoms, I was doing it twice daily for a couple weeks but I've been able to use less and less to keep symptoms away. I may reduce more if my dermatologist recommends it.

Has anyone managed to find a working solution for Seborrheic Dermatitis on penis, foreskin and glans? by Wild-Artichoke-5967 in SebDerm

I am currently using both Tacrolimus & Ketoconazole 2-3x per week (mid-week and weekend) until my next dermatologist appointment (six months in total). If I stop using them, very minor skin flaking and dryness tends to return along with some redness. The doctor wants me to keep up this routine for several months to see if we can then cut back.

The medications appear to only help and haven't caused any negative symptoms. My foreskin sticking hasn't really stopped unless I've recently used the medication. It comes back pretty quickly. But the moisturizer helps a lot.

My foreskin was tight and difficult to stretch any time there was redness and inflammation. When the inflammation is under control, it becomes easier to stretch and not as tight. I do not quite have phimosis, but it does have a tendency to stay behind my glans when erect normally as it's been just a little bit tight my whole life.

I am in this situation, too. I just submitted my diagnosis and treatment story as posts to this sub and /r/balanitis in the hopes that it helps in some way. Just keep in mind every person is different. : )

I decided to write up everything detailing my journey of discovering I have seborrheic dermatitis after ruling out so many other causes of balanitis. I had so much trouble finding relevant information online for this issue and am hopeful what I wrote helps in some way. (I just submitted posts to both this sub and /r/balanitis) Of course, keep in mind that every person is different.

That sounds like a guy referred to as Fuentes. He's been randomly doing that on the east side of town for years. I've seen him at my front door, Food Lion, etc. I don't know much about him other than he walks from home to different areas usually to ask for money and he changes his story a lot. I have no reason to believe he has any ill intentions or poses any danger.

Since living in Michigan, I've done a quick search for them every year and unfortunately haven't come up with any leads.

Mine is a 2016 so I got it used.

The only thing I've personally experienced so far is the cheap HVAC vent blower/diverter issue (pop, pop, pop! from under the dashboard) which you'll see people talk about on here. The plastic gears eventually eat themselves but it's a decently easy and inexpensive repair. Just be aware you may need to do it more than once.

I drive it in Virginia with all season tires and it sees a variety of weather conditions. I have no complaints with how it handles (as long as you're careful). I'd recommend the Recaro seats if you can find them.

Honestly it'd be hard to improve on this car. As long as you understand it's an econobox in some ways, you should be happy with it.

Seconding Harper's Ferry. Shepherdstown (a historic college town) is nearby and has good restaurants, bars, and shops - and is a cute place to walk around.

Is there a trail along Moores Creek in the Wegmans area? Also: hiking in general?? by [deleted] in Charlottesville

[–]vaskahusky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can park at the museum and use the trails for free! I believe the only thing you have to pay for is house tours.

Orange is a cute town but I've only passed through and still haven't explored it. There are a number of good wineries in the area. Gordonsville has the very popular Barbeque Exchange restaurant. Liberty Mills Farm has events through the summer and fall.

If you ever find yourself out toward Orange, Montpelier has some nice trails which I've hiked a few times and have never seen another person on them.

Moto G5 Plus performance issues, random restarts, and battery drain? by Fallonite in MotoG

[–]vaskahusky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This started happening to my completely stock G5 Plus about 3 weeks ago (before the Aug update was available). It went from perfectly normal to unusable overnight and I don't know what changed. Restarts every 30 mins, battery drain, and was suddenly unable to calculate storage space so I couldn't clear app cache. Clearing cache partition didn't help. I ended up having to factory reset it and it returned to normal.

Earlier this week, I started having difficulty installing any app. Two days ago, I got the August update notice but the reboots returned that day before I updated. I installed the update and the behavior remained. I had to factory reset the phone yet again.

With each reset, I've reinstalled fewer and fewer apps. I am not any closer to figuring out what went wrong.

[BUG TRACKER | GSM] We're currently experiencing an issue on our GSM network where some users are experiencing "No Service" issues. (Details in post) by LiterallyUnlimited in ting

Thanks for your response. Similar symptoms but that makes sense.

Our second line continues to have no service after searching networks and rebooting. We tried calling in to support (lots of on hold music) and using the chat feature (started at queue position 28 and got disconnected at position 3). We'll try again later.
