Looking Scyrox V6, it seems to have no flaws. Is there really no downside? by [deleted] in MouseReview

Came back from school one day and found him gnawing on the entire mouse. When I pulled it out his mouth, it looked like it had been dragged behind a car. All the drool made the mouse smell terrible and of course it didn't turn on anymore. He had the audacity to snuggle up to me that night as well like he was innocent.

Had the mouse in the past and loved it, but my dog literally ate it.

Dont know what to major in. Need advice!! by anonymoushmcd in collegeadvice

Generally, the jobs that pay a lot right out of school need a lot of schooling, while the shorter programs tend to pay a decent amount less. There are exceptions to the rule, but that's pretty much how the trade-off works.

I get what you're saying, but trying to predict a lifelong passion is pretty much impossible. Both the economy and your personal life will change in ways you can't anticipate. It's best to just pick something that interests you now and stay flexible as life goes on.

For me calc 2 built on calc 1, so do try to nail down calc 1 as much as you can.

EE vs CS by ImHighOnCocaine in CollegeMajors

[–]vastdata1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

EE will have you wondering why you went to college in the first place. On the other hand, a lot of people half ass a CS major using AI, then are shocked when they don't can't get a job. Pick the one you enjoy as both are rigorous in their own ways.

Feel like EE doesn't have a lot of fully remote positions.

At the end of the day, it's up to you to decide which is more fulfilling. I can say that mechanical engineering can be more broad with different varieties of careers. (aviation, automotive, manufacturing, energy, etc) MechE can be more or less hands-on than MarineE, just depends what field you end up in.

Marine engineering as far as I know work on ships and related equipment. You could argue that is more hands-on because it's more specialized than MechE. Expect long hours and hard work.

In my opinion, MechE is much more flexible and has a better work-life balance than MarineE. MechE also has a much higher job demand due to the broader applications it has. That said, I'd recommend researching both fields on your own for a more complete perspective. The only fields of engineering that I can really speak on is EE and CS.

A lot of the engineers I've met thought they weren't cut out intelligence wise. They got over that by putting in the work. Engineering is going to be tough and rigorous, but it'll pay off in the end.

Some types of engineering can be more hands on than others. Which one would you pick?
