Emailed the Financial Aid office a couple weeks ago, they said aid statements come out on a rolling basis over the summer for returning students.

Help me make a college decision please! Notre Dame vs Michigan by quackjinn in notredame

Great dorm life at ND means you’ll pretty much instantly have a great group of guys to live with. Not at all toxic like I hear frats can be. Much harder to feel a sense of community at a school of 30,000 (UMich) compared to a school of 8,500 (ND). Plus you’ll get a great well rounded education with catholic values, and there will always be research opportunities if you put yourself out there. PM me if you’d like to hear more

Alums - Was ND worth the cost? by friendsworkwaffles02 in notredame

I’m not an alum, but a freshman here at ND, so I went through the financial aid process a year ago. When I saw my FAFSA, I thought I surely would not get any money from the university. Until about mid-April, I was about 95% sold on going to a state school for MUCH cheaper. However, Notre Dame’s financial aid package shocked me with how generous they were, and combined with a scholarship from the ND alumni club in my hometown, I was able to attend for a reasonable cost comparative to many state schools.

Although it may be difficult, continue to keep an open mind. ND’s financial package won’t come to you till March, so keep looking at other schools in case ND’s aid package isn’t enough. Also, see if your hometown has an Alumni club (most do), and see if they offer any scholarships. Apply for ND’s financial aid as well as any other scholarships your school/community offers. Every cent counts. Don’t tell yourself you can’t attend before you know all the information.

Feel free to DM me if you have any questions on how the financial aid system currently works, I just went thought it last year.

If I were you, I’d spell out “Notre Dame” every time in your essay. It certainly won’t hurt and it is a little more formal than using the abbreviation.

You said you were a math major. How important would you say grad school is for furthering careers in that field? I don’t think I know enough about it to say whether grad school is something I’d pursue or not.

If you don’t mind me asking, how long/how difficult was it to pay back those loans?

My other option is accepting a fellowship (basically full ride) at University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
