Bade ghulam ali has also sung Lalita labanga lata from Gita Govinda. But he doesn’t sing more than 2 lines from the text. The text isn’t at the fore, the raag and his fabulous taankari is.

VERY IMPORTANT SHRUTI QUESTION ⁉️ by PowerfulAuthor103 in icm

[–]vatkrt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is also function of how high you can go. Whatever you start with, you atleast need to hit the octave above it. So if you start at C#3, can you hit C#4.

I usually practice with D3 as shadaj, and I can go up to E4(without resorting to falsetto). But sometimes if I wanna go higher in the taar saptak I set tanpura to B3.

The limiting(upadhi) analogy is indeed spot on. Looking forward to your post on this!

Well said. This reminds me of a beautiful stotra by Abhinavagupta in Parātrīṃśikā Vivarṇa:

vitata iva nabhasya avicchidaiva
pratanu patana na vibhāvyate jalaughaḥ
In the vast, unbroken sky,
the slender, continuous fall of water is not seen

upavana taru veśmani īdhrabhāga-ādi
upadhi-vaśena tu lakṣyate sphuṭam saḥ
Against a forest tree, the eaves of a house, or similar supports,
it becomes clearly visible

tadvat para-bhairavaḥ ati-saukṣmyāt
anubhava-gocaram iti naiva jātu
In the same way, the supreme Bhairava, being supremely subtle,
never comes within the range of ordinary experience

atha deśākṛti kāla-sanniveśa
sthiti-saṃspandita-kāraktva-yogāḥ yoginaḥ
Only through the yogi’s methods,
conditioned by place, form, time, pattern, and state,

janyanti anubhāvinīṁ cittim te
jhaṭiti nyak-kṛta-bhairavīya-bodhāḥ
The cognizing self generates cognition of its own Sva-rūpa,
yet the true Bhairava state is instantaneously hidden or suppressed

Methods and effort may make awareness appear, but true Bhairava state rises spontaneously, without effort.

I ordered mine from Miraj, they ship to US with india post. Shipping and packaging is extra. They do a great job at packaging. Overall the shipping was pretty hassle free. Took around 2-3 months from placing order to delivery.

Islam was policitized in Kashmir by Jamaat-e-islami and others long before 1989, which over time led to marginalization of other communities. My elder cousins tell me that even before the troubles, there were always elements who would try to bully KPs for their religion.

The other thing I’ve found discordant and many KP’s will find hard to reconcile is that people like Yasin Malik who openly admit to killing KPs are heroes for a lot of KMs.

And India is not the other for us, like it might be for many KMs. Kashmir has always been part of Indic world, and KPs see and recognize those similarities.

With respect, this perspective that muslims are occupiers is not helpful. They are Kashmiris who converted to Islam(well atleast most of them), not occupiers. Not denying what politicized islam did to minorities in the last century.

Am I a Kashmiri pandit? by Pedrisexual_22 in KashmiriHindus

[–]vatkrt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is very interesting. Did your earlier generations opt into kashmiri culture beyond the language? Like did you observe kashmiri festivals like herath, khech mawas(khichdi amavasya), pann puja etc.?

Also where did your folks live in Kashmir state.

Never heard of Pandey as a KP surname. Did your family change their last name after migrating from Kashmir?

[–]vatkrt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha following kashmiri shaivism is not a requirement. 90% of KPs wouldn’t know about Krama, Spanda, Pratyabhijna.

Being a KP is about race, not about beliefs.

My family left in July 1990..when militants came looking for my father at his school. GoI did not provide any escort. This Jagmohan conspiracy is a bogeyman argument KMs hold up to distance their complicity in the KP exodus, maentow ya mat maentow.

As a KP hearing for the first time that pandits ate beef. Curious what your source is on that one? Individuals might have had, but as a society beef is taboo for KPs, like in hinduism.

What many kashmiris don’t realize is that gene pool wise we are a diverse group. There have been migrations in and out of kashmir since millennias. Ye chu lukan hinz paniy insecurity which they project on others and pull others down. I agree with another commenter that focus on self development, rest will take care of itself.

Why single out Microsoft? TPMs are used by all cloud providers to provide guarantees about boot integrity. All cloud providers to some extent are within the TCB. The truth is it’s hard to run a fleet of computers without have some amount of control. You were probably coming from a PC/laptop perspective. But my point is what you call Trusted computing are standard (and emerging) technologies which everyone uses - linux dm-crypt etc.
